I was a bit bored this morning so I thought I'd try to get some thoughts rolling for Age 5. Post questions and ideas you have for how the CDZ Raiders will rule the KoC world during this age.

I'll start with some discussion topics:
1.) What will our hierarchy be?
2.) At the begining of the age what is the best plan to rise to the top quickly?
(ie. rank the importance of what should be purchased first spy? Men per Day? Attack?)
3.) What are our goals for the up comming age?
4.) Will we stay Orc? Do we have the choice at the beginning of an Age?
5.) Are you planning on even playing in the new age?

I will play the next age for sure.

Not sure exactly what happens in the transition to the new age but I think we do get to change names/officers/race if we want.

I am going to play Human in age5 - boring, but definitely the biggest advantadge for a click whore like myself.

Goals... to have fun? I will personally be trying for <1000 rank, strategy will be to click enough to get >1000 recruits a day for both me and my officers. I will build DA/sentry heavily and some spy (with little training down) at first - so big TFF (~100,000?), high TBG with DA/sentry to match, decent spy for recons and revenge/protection. Perhaps halfway into the age I will train down massively to boost spy/sentry and buy SA to turn myself into a hard as nails slayer [fdevil]


It's hard to know what to say about Hierarchy, in raw clicks I have contributed around 35,000 men up the tree just from my own clicks, about 50,000 all in when you include clickthroughs from my officers (and some of those clicks are by me too, hehe).

Ideally I want some more (active) officers. I am happy to augment the clicks for my officers who are already clicking to get them up to >1000 men/day when I can. My thinking is that some of you who are PP and Meli's officers could become my officers and be providing PP/Meli with more clickthroughs than you would if you stayed where you are now.... However its not just about click efficiency so ymmv.
But I would really like some more clickthroughs for myself, I am a huge net provider atm - which is fine and will stay that way - but a little more back would be good.

Obviously there should still be at least one (probably two) commanders above me to make use of the click-throughs, I assume that Meli will stay as our top account - iirc PP made some noise about not playing age5 but if that is really the case perhaps anarres will take his place? food for thought.


Also I am currently working on the next version of the GoldHunter which will store spy logs so you can see at a glance the most recent info on targets. Once it does that I will work on a central repository system that shares our spy-logs with eachother automatically :D - you will of course just be able to use it as a much advanced intelligence database. Of course if we get this system working then everyone using it will benefit from the higher spy ratings among us... hehehe. oh yeah point being that you benefit from my leet skillz, heh.

I will definitely be playing the 5th age. I want to play out a whole age to see where I can ultimately end up. My realistic goal would be to end up < 5000. I don't know if I have the time to invest into a <1000 campaign.

I will however become a click whore like you DrA. Maybe not to the extent that you are but I hope to be a close 2nd or 3rd :D If you'd have me I'd love to be one of your officers. I can guarentee good "click-throughs" and consistant playing through the age.

My thoughts on what to buy early are as follows.

1st - need some attacking power
2nd - need spy (to find those targets)
3rd - More Spy

The upgrades for units per day will prolly be secondary at first because I will be self clicking so much.

I can "water" my orcs quite frequently so a huge DA is not really necessary at the beginning. I still think that I will keep being an Orc for the 5th Age...It just seems to fit my personality.

1.) I am not the best clicker in the world because I've been afraid of adding too much to my laptop. However I am getting a new one this week so that will change. I think I should be folded into Dr. A's army.
2.) Attack first and then men per day seems to be the best.
(ie. rank the importance of what should be purchased first spy? Men per Day? Attack?)
3.) I would like to be the revenge machine. I would like to be able to sab anyone who tries against our people.
4.) Don't know.
5.)Yeah. Probably at the same level of clicking enthusiasm though.

Okay, officer signups start now ;) I am very happy to have you guys as officers as long as Meli is cool with the rearrangements, I want us to get the hierarchy that suits all of us if possible :D


On Unit Production I think you have to upgrade asap. An extra recruit at the beginning of the age earns far more than a new guy half way through.

My philosophy on spy (for anyone using their attack turns) is that it should always be higher than your SA. You can always find a good target for whatever SA you have really as long as you have the spy to find them... espeically if you use GoldHunter hehe. But I find targets with >10mil gold, <10mil DA and high sentry.

There is always the OneShot thingy to help water the orcs. It effectively doubles the amount of TBG you can cope with (as you can spend once while you are away) so we can all get a bit bigger than we otherwise would :D

I am very tempted to stay as an Orc but the lure of the extra cash is too great... If I had 100,000 men then I would earn 2.8mil as orc, 3.5mil as human. Thats a lot of extra mullah.

All the races are pretty good though. You just have to make use of the stat, so if an elf then really build spy and/or sentry etc. Humans definitely have a slight advantadge for huge armies though, just look at the top ranks races and you'll see what I mean.

Dr. A's starting strategy sounds fine. The one thing I want to avoid is losing all my weapons to sabotage. Again. One point of attention is that we should diversify the functions in our group a bit more. We need at least one specialist of each type in our tree, which, I think, means at least one of us should be, gasp, elf. I'm not exactly volunteering, because I think the additional upkeep of the humans could be the strongest trait of them all. OTOH, I brought it up first, so I don't shy away from it.

BTW, I think Meli owes me some clicks [whipped]

@ [shabba] ~ It's tough to have confidence in a player that we have 0 info about. With your wish to be closed about your stats we don't know how good you are. All we can see is a 165 man army at ranking 37,772 with a drawbridge. Other than that we know nothing.

- DrA should be the leader
- Best plan is to get the spy and attack ratings up to pick the best targets and be able to raid them. Defeense and sentry come later, when you yourself became a target for others.
- Humans is the best choice IMO.

I still want at least Meli above me! Meli founded the game here at CDZ and deserves the clickthrough at least. I think there is merit in having 2 people above me just for catching all the clicks.

As far as tactics go then its good we have some different strategies :D And yeah - at least one elf is probably a good idea, I think all the races can be played well but they each suit certain strategies a lot better.

I am not sure what I can contribute, but I click on most of your guy's links 1-2 times per day.
I wouldn't be really active, but could give you 10-15 mins per day.
Plus I love trashtalking and taking people down a peg or 3.

You could click yourself a lot of men with clickwhore in only 5 minutes a day. Since the guy superior to you receives soldiers for each of your clicks that can add up pretty quick for someone with a lot of officers.

drunken terrorist is okay and you can transfer credits true, but its better to just use someones wildfire password and click directly! wildfire is better in every way, more links to click and much faster clickback. And 50% of ppl on DT are on WF too, so its kinda annoying if you already click WF much.

stillin doubt wether I'll play in age 5. The 4 times a day log in to spent my money is becoming hard for me atm. If I'll join I'll be playing humans for sure. If the goldhunter starts including a one shot buyer that would make chances for me to participate increase.

Don't count on me to generate a lot of clicks though. I tried a few times this age and it was more time consuming than I can spare. I dont suspect that will improve with a baby around.

PP- oneshot buyer has been released as a stand-alone utility for a week or so already (http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2910) :) its a little rough but works good.


The next release (this w/e) has combined both apps into one just to share the big DLL and common code. It also has spy-logging working, I doubt I'll have the central db part up and running by then but I might hack in a quick routine so we can load eachothers spylogs and share them that way for the moment :)

The waiting for the end of the age is no fun :(

My plan for the new age is to spend all of my money initially on bumping unit production.

Keep all of my clicked men as untrained until I get atleast up to 320 per day.

I'd like to try for the 640 but that may need to wait until I go Postal and start attacking people.

After that is done I will work on DA and Sentry until I feel confident that I can hold some gold.

Then Bump Spy and SA Last

I'm prolly going to wait 1 to 1.5 months before I attack anyone. I figure there is no reason to attack anyone until I can get good cash from them. Why spend an attack turn getting 150,000 when I can wait a month and get 10,000,000.

Ok, I am here. Should I be orcs again? I am leaning towards it. (I like attacking)
I will be probably following Mistfits plan for domination, and bank a bunch of turns.
I have/will add my little brother who will be good for ~500 clicks per day as well. He will be able to start up around August 21st or so, as he is moving to Wisconsin for Grad School.
Orc's attacking ability is awesome, but for the slow bank start maybe dwarves are better. Any opinions?
I don't want to use the overplayed humans.

I think Dwarves could be good if you are planning on having a relatively large TBG (ie. you will be doing a lot of clicking) and you intend to train down your army for the most part. If you go for getting the very top defensive upgrades (extremely hard work!) and you have a trained down dwarf army then you are nigh-on invulnerable, and that could be very attractive - but getting the top defensive upgrade (Hand Of God) will be a bitch.

Of course as with any non-orc choice of army when you come to attack you will have less targets you can hit at your size, but with KoCUtility hunting up targets that maybe isnt such an issue ;)

Anyway, I think Dwarf could play well but only if you click a lot at the start.

Seeing as dwarf is underrepresented, I will decide to go dwarf.
I think I can handle heavy early clicking. Then train a huge # of sentries, then Tech to a HoG. No one will want to attack a dwarf in a HoG, especially if they can't see my gold total.

Ya know just for fun at the end of this age (right now) I'd be willing to sell off all of my BPM's and IS's for Dr. A to hit me and take all of my cash just to see how high we could get him in the ranks.

Right now I've hit my end goal.

If I were to do that I could offer up about 540Mil to you in one hit [fdevil] you should be able to buy some nice stuff with that.

I think that some of the big guys on the front page of rankings do things like that.

its a very tempting offer but to be honest I think I would rather you kept it. I am very vaugely trying to hit #1000 if I can but if I had sell-off's to do it then I'd feel kinda beholden to try and maintain the high rank (instead of hiding and just checking my true rank once a week) - and when I do that I get fucked over by big boys with too many turns who hit anything >10mil.

Also, it'll be nice to know I could get to wherever I get without any donations. using only skill and er, playing aids ;)

I've joined and am trying to understand the whole game. I think that I have a vague grasp of it. But, I need to know how to get a clicker program and anything else that I should know. I'd rather be an orc but don't really care if you guys don't mind guiding me along.

btw, a guy named Thenumberofthebeast has attacked me 3 times in the past day. I'm not sure why since I've been spending all of my money on upgrades. He has only gotten ~23k with 35 attacks from me but it's silly since some of the battles I've won have netted me > 300,000. I'm still too weak to attack him back but I think that I might just let him waste his turns attacking me.

My spy run showed he had 7 attack soldiers

Well I attacked him back once and only received 600 G.... I've stripped my defenses for more powerful offensive weapons.

I also started the WF clicker and Mistfit should be seeing a few added soldiers to his ranks. I'm not sure how far that goes but I managed ~170 click "credits" during lunch and jumped from 14 to 71 orcs already. I have 10 per day coming in otherwise. Thanks for the messages to thenumberdude.

wildfire can return upto 1000 men a day - but if you put a couple of hundred in you will probably get ~90% back in 24hrs (return rate is proportional to credit but its generally pretty good)

given that there is only a couple of weeks left to this age I would use the time to just have some fun and orientate yourself to the game. maybe spend everything on attack weapons (the more expensive the better) and get one of us to spy for you. If you catch me on msm (I am on most evenings) I will hunt you up some decent targets for whatever your attack is.

In fact if you get your SA just a bit higher then I can arrange a selloff for you (=I lower my defence by training all my attackers to defenders and let you attack me to get a donation of gold) that way you can buy some weapons and have some fun whilst the age ends.

It's up to you in the end who your commanding officer is but you would be highly appreciated as one of my officers! I can offer good intel and more than likely I will have extra click credits available to transfer to you during the new age now that you are signed up with WF.

As to the race thing...I guess we will have to wait and see what they do for the new age. My guess is that the anouncement will come tomorrow (completely uneducated guess)

As Mistfit says its up to you who is your commander but I had assumed you had signed up under Mistfit in readiness for age 5 :) I am hoping that my current officers as of now will stay for age 5 (and that erikk will join again under me when he returns) and also that we will gain a few more recruits who can join under everyone else to generally make the chain stronger... but it is of course up to everyone what they do.

I will be surprised if they make any drastic changes to the game - going purely on the almost total inactivity from the admins in this age. still, I might be pleasently surprised. I havent checked out the Undead race idea, but I'll wait and see I think. As it is at the moment I am leaning torward human but there is still a slight chance I might be Orc... but all the races are very playable imo.

click credits wont transfer over - but you will get at least a weeks notice of the age ending and in a week you can get about 10000 credits back. maybe less at the end if everyone stops clicking, but still i wouldnt worry about holdign credits.

I understand the need for an organized structure so that clicks for me will help out Mistfit, Dr. Ali, and I guess his commanded too (Meli). If everyone was under just one person then the free men would stop at the head commander.

I think that I was reading that the undead will have a new trait of maybe recruiting up to 40% of the dead from any attacks. I dunno tho. It could have been an earlier idea before it was refined.

a point of KoC trivia - alliance tags are a hangover from Age1/Age2 when it was in some way enforced that alliances had to have alliance tags (don't know how or why it was enforced). So having them does suggest that your clan are maybe old-school, although any truly old-school KoC-ers might know its not the case. And I'm sure plenty of the tags around atm are newer than that anyway.

I don't know if you get to rename your account at the start of the new age. It maybe that its just the best time to kill the old account (delete account option) and sign up with a new name. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

shabba - at the end of the day it's up to individuals who they want to sign up with, but if you can persuade erikk to be your officer (when he rejoins the chain - he's solo atm) then that might be a solution :)

I will be offering my officers some clicking assistance etc. and I think its a good notion for commanders to offer direct rewards to their officers to repay the clickthroughs a bit.
Once I have some wealth behind me in the new age then I'll try running a clicking competition for everybody in the chain - hopefully that will be a good way to boost our overall power.

I'm getting close to my second goal of this age. Getting all of my stats above 100 Mil :D Only sentry is left and that is at 87 mil or so.

I'd like to give a shout out to my boy Romeo! He's gonna be one to contend with in the new age. Have you seen his ranking recently? 12,099! That did not take long at all. It took me 1/2 the age to get that far and he's only been playing for what... 1 month or so...

I am down for a group hunt. I am currently feeling better, and am going to go have some fun.
It is my goal to break the top 10,000.
I can't do the scheduled group hunt though, as that is "family" time. (As long as it just me and the wife family time is really happy time for me, when the inlaws come over, not so much)

new age starts when the admins can be arsed. could be a month easy, will certainly be longer than a week (we get a weeks notice and we aint had it yet)

palace - nice! but an inefficient way to spend money ;) (unless you have >800mil DA...)

still upgrades are always nice, and it makes it harder for someone with a similar TFF and low siege upgrades to attack you.

My DA dropped from 120m to 60m for that upgrade. But it didn't spoil the fun of buying such an expensive goody.

Still, I wonder. For the palace upgrade I would have to sell 200 or so BPM's. That leaves me with 1100 BPM's, a reasonable amount ;) Of course I then get the palace bonus (what, 25%?). In addition, my TFF is smaller, thus it's less appealing to hit me. Would it make sense to do this upgrade? I get attacked occasionally these days (by morons who should spend their attack turns on better targets).

if the people hitting you are close to you in size (ie. just smaller than you) then maybe it would stop them attacking you. If the people hitting you are a fair bit smaller then I doubt it would make much difference tbh.

No, but if they're smaller then they can't touch me (if I train down completely). I have something like 1300 BPM's, so I need to keep at least 1300-640=660 attackers. I guess most people want to keep a small defensive force (but then again, I even get attacked by morons with a larger TFF...)
