So first question ! Has Propain been abducted by Aliens ?
I offer my services as a permanent replacement or duo-play. I've been replacing Erikk for one whole turn a year ago and I do not recall a single aspect from the game at that time.

Its not ProPain that is to blame, he does not have the correct sav file and unfortunatly killer went away just after he sent it to PP. Killer is back on Tuesday.
Well, my goal is not to blame anyone; i've had technical prob with my isp recently which has delayed a bit various games. Just, it's for proposing an alternate solution.
I think somebody has done some voodoo practice on this game. It is doomed but the players keep on stuggling to keep it rolling.
Diplo message to Arhgis/Babylon - I see more and more bowmen appearing near my borders. I dont know what you are up to but please keep them at bay. They are bound to die on my vet hoplites!
If Killer sends me the sav we can continue the struggle tonight. I'd appreciate if PP can brief me by mail about deals etc., all other players feel free to contact me :)

Well, iirc ProPain said he would be around more from now on, so I think we should give him another chance since it is obviously not his fault this time.
Arghis is currently trying to trigger his GA against me, which is weird since HE declared war on ME and now complains I won't take peace at the end of a bowman's arrow. [hmm]
Don't worry Arghis, I'll welcome your bowmen with pointy spears. ;)
well, it's not giving or not giving another chance to whoever, it's just continuing playing a few turn even if one of us has some trouble :-)
Well, now let's discuss another subject of very high importance !
the name of this game.
how can you live playing a game with a name such far away of lyrism that 8 player ! The game Swimming pool (or pool of death has it has been nicknamed by some), is a game which have a name which is very fun (if not poetic).
So i ask : "What name do you want to have for the current game we play where there is eight player ! ? !

I am Greece, you are Babylon and anarres is Japan. ProPain (or Beam) is Mongols.
So, if you are at war with Japan, I suppose you move to the southeast instead of the northeast... ;)

seems my uplaod to turntracker yesterday failed.
digger pointed that out to me, so I sent it again
rceived the save this morning, will play today, have to work till 21:00 GMT+1 however so I wont be able to play before that time.
Holiday starts saturday for me, I'll have plenty of time to play except from 9-16 july when I'll be in Luxemburg without internet access.

Are you kidding ! i asked several times to leave my territory and you continue scouting it. As if at this stage of the game the world was not big enough for you to send your units somewhere else ...
Anyway, i'm not a warmonger, so you don't have much trouble to expect from me. Perhaps one or two borders incident, to spice up the things, but nothing dramatic.
As for the holidays of Propain, i suggest that if the save shall arrive to him at this moment, we send a copy to Beam :-) (with the password)

yes ProPain, is it possible you can leave somebody some instructions for your turn. I am trying to get the game moving but it near impossible to keep any sort of momentum, if we hold off all the time.

My warrior scouted through your territory and was heading south to return home instead of going East then having to tresspass through ERIKKs land to get home.
Didn't the war start before your reign anyway? Where are you getting this information?
Just got home from work and I;m really devastated. Will play first thing tomorrow morning and from there or I'll be readily available for 3 weeks except for the L'burg part. Will look for a replacement for sure.
Sorry about not playing tonight, but I started working at 8am and I really cant think straight anymore atm.
Considering several of you feel I;m holding up the game too much my place is up for grabs.
All the open thread lurkers can consider this an invitation to apply for the open spot, please post here and as soon as the others agree on who's gonna take my spot I'll be gone. I'll continue playing untill someone is found.

I didn't realize there was already a volunteer when I posted, but you can certainly keep my name in mind for the future, and I will make sure not to read any spoilers.
hey Propain, you're not obliged to leave ... just, if you know you have some trouble to play for a time, finding a replacement player seems a good solution. I don't want you to leave. After that, it's your decision.
Beam is ok for me, and we can still contact Bed Head if we have another delay. :-)

Has anybody seen Killer, it has been his turn for 2 days now [sad]
If killer doesn't show himself soon, i suggest that Digger send his turn to Beam for instance, so that the game can advance a bit. I'm sorry if some considers this as a kind of penalty, but in fact, you're right. it's like loosing a turn. But at least you can expect someone trying to minimize the damage to your strategy. ;)

Well, although ProPain made a statement, that he felt people thought he was holding up the game. I do not have that opinion. I for one don't point the pointy stick at anyone person. I have been hassling everybody for some reason or another to play the sav and i think that everybody has had there fair share of heal dragging, except possibly Erikk, in which i can't think of a time that Erikk was slow.
But ProPain, you're work is keeping you busy, that is for sure and you have a little "Poppet" on the way too. If you feel you can keep the pace, i.e 1-3 turns a week, then by all means stay in. Otherwise....

Is it possible to add a feature to CDZ, so that people can look up who is on holidays, like a calendar, instead of having to trawl through threads to remember who is on holidays.

C3C is Ok...dont think it would work in PTW actually, even though it started in PTW
So, any clues about PTW / C3C mix of characteristics in this game? I saw maptrading already is possible and Iroqs are cultural leader so I assume Agri isn't in this game.

well theoretically it is all PTW rules, but i would'nt bet my house on it.
"Rules" are the same, but the internal formulas change *sometimes*....
For example, corruption is just a formula and is calculated according to whatever patch you are playing.
Civ traits/units/terrain/the whole map/OCN/techs, etc are all "rules" and hard coded in to each save.
If you have a specific question ask and I may know. :)

I'm really sorry but the last week or so I'm getting about 1 hour a day when I'm not either at work or sleeping/eating/getting ready for work. :(
At least, I can play tonight - I know for sure I will get home by 10pm. :)
(FWIW we are moving office this weekend and I'm essentially being dumped with all the hardware stuff for 40 people, including new systems...)
Sorry again, I should have posted that I may be a bit slower than ususal this week.

I just had a look at the stats from the turn tracker...we are averaging 10 days per turn. We are on turn 96 of a possible 540? (2050AD)....At this rate I expect we will finish in just over 12 years time.
16+ PBEM is much better...at 4.8 days per turn and on turn 20 it should finish in about 7 years time

I am sorry - just too busy atm. I guess I have 4 more weeks to work ony my modeling, then prepare my talk, which will take a week, too - but the talk I have to give at the meeting is in 3 weeks. So I tend to be too hasty with anything but work [blush]

i've no more personnal computer as i have moved away from home. I'll be able to play again in something like 2 weeks, until this time, you can either play my turn with a replacement player or skip it.

I think we will have to wait based on:
~Killer also being rather busy ATM;
~so many people most likely having read the other spoliers (even if they are out of date) it would be difficult to find a replacement and,
~with Civ4 on the cusp of release. I would say most are not that bothered.
