I didn't think that post count really meant much. Once people have established the type of player you are, I don't believe that post counting is totally necessary.
I like padding the number a little some new punks think I know my $hit, but that is about it. I was kind of frustrated when guys with 100 posts and obviously monarch to emporer skills were telling me what to do. The other extreme is some of the guys that cruise the OT thread and Demogame threads and pick up close to 1000 posts a month at CFC. That is pretty dang prickish as well.

They are just trying to socialize, you know. Thing which might be failing low in reality. They live considerable portion of their life on these forums. Hence the postcount.

I have found proof that I will be poor for the rest of my life.
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/Careers/07/08/looks/index.html

Actually this is not really true as I currently make $20 an hour and my wife makes $6. But I think that is due to me having 2 bachelors degrees and 99% of my masters done, and her having a G.E.D.

When I was skinny and ugly, then I got no respect. Ugly and football sized, respect and more money. If I can make it up to Vin Diesel or Arnold size, than I can be an action star. But I have no desire to work out 4 hours a day and use steriods and/or 3-5 supplements.
There is a lot of truth to this, but I try and judge almost entirely on ability and skill not looks. I just lucked out that my wife is a looker and can cook. [blush]

Well the smartass is right. I might have to be careful or I am going to incur some serious ass wrath over in the terrorism thread. Without being a smartass, I am digging a deep hole with Krys, and it looks like Anarres too. It is kind of amazing the different opinions people hold on world events that can be directly tied to location and upbringing.

I Don't know. My Mom doesn't give me money anymore, give me a job to do, (Except when I visit home, which is very infrequently, and I don't get paid then anyway) or even cook for me.
Plus compared to my younger brother, I am "Homely." Not exactly morale boosting words to hear, but it could be worse. It could be raining.

My mom doesn't give me money anymore or cook for me, if that makes you feel any better. Well, she does give me money for gas when I drive my sister places, and when I go shopping for groceries she pays me back.

Plus, I don't even know exactly what she thinks. She did say recently that I am not ugly.

I'm trying not to be stupid, but many people have the tendancy to equate religious, especially Christian, with stupid. I have worked very hard not to be stupid, and was blessed with some God-given talent there. I have worked very little at avoiding laziness, which is why I post so much throughout the workday here. I will have to post more I guess.
These conversations make me wish I could meet some of you folks face to face and discuss stuff, but Rapid City is in the middle of Nowhere-ville. I am locationally closest to Whomp and Bedhead, and they are each over 1000 miles away.

Why did I suddenly decide to stop ignoring this thread ? Do you have any idea, Meli ??? :( [lol] Maybe because I'm bored as hell. One moment I like to remember is when we were online with Matrix and Paal, and how I was smartassing for fun, but then decided to talk seriously to you because you thought I wouldn't be able to do it. Don't know if I was convincing, but at least I can think ? A little ? Oh, and Romeo, English isn't my native language, and I didn't quite understand your comment on me in this very thread : "Without being a smartass, I am digging a deep hole with Krys" [hmm]

I see akots is having a challenge. But am I really at 1500 posts here ? [eek] Too much for my taste. My goal on a forum isn't to have the greatest postcount, but to have the most consistent post in average. I think I'll have a bit more work after THIS post. :( [mischief]

First, masta, you need to install the freechess client. Go to the freechess.org and select Jin as your client. That one compensates for lags and stuff and makes seeks easier. Though you still have to type most of the things. Then register and then get yourself some rating there by playing a few games. We then can set a time for a meeting. [evil]

I'm currently fluctuating between 1780 and 1870 depending on mood swings, once got to 1890 but it was an accident.

Whomp
13-07-2005, 19:20
No patience Romeo? Speed chess.

Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin threw a party in the 70's where you invite the most "interesting" person you know. Then the "interesting" person they brought would invite their most "interesting" person to the next party. Rinse and repeat... It turned into quite a gig after about 4 rounds. Everyone from entertainers to politicians etc. etc. showed up.

Who would is the most "interesting" person you know? You don't have to name names if you don't want but maybe why you find
them so interesting.
I would invite my friend Johnny, a friend from uni. Johnny's interesting because he's the inventor of the "keg-a-que", runs a company that manufactures friction products for brakes and clutches. He is probably more fun than interesting but would have no problem working the room. A bonus is he knows some very interesting people that he could invite to the 2nd party. You?

romeothemonk
13-07-2005, 19:39
I have played some speed chess before and found that a 10 minute timer really elevates my game in comparison to the people I play against. I played some Master and Grandmaster guys a few years back (7 years now), and got thumped in no-limit games, but put them on the clock and we had draws.

"interesting people" or people that can work a room. When I am in the right mood I can work a room like no-one else. When I am not, I am a grumpy-dumpy wallflower. I would have to choose my buddy Mike as the guy to invite. He is an American Indian that grew up in a German community, then commuted with me in high-school to a scandanavian community. He had/has the wildest ideas, will say and do dang near anything, and is one of the most fun guys I know. He hopes to have many kids so he can put them in Shy_Guy costumes from Mario Brothers and freak people out. His ability to polarize any room of any size is amazing.
He also has some of the best quotes ever. About a flat-chested mutual female acquaintance. "---- had on a low cut dress. It was like an invisible car wreck, you were looking at something and it wasn't there, but you couldn't take your eyes off of it."
I could fill this thread with random spam stories about some of our exploits and such.

romeothemonk
16-07-2005, 01:25
Hmm, a good Mike story. He was initially named Rex by his parents, and had to legally change his name to avoid being tuanted.
Mike and I were both in Speech in H.S. In Minnesota, where I grew up, speech is a big thing/activity in high school. I was in extemperaneous speaking, and Mike was in Creative expression. I had on a suit, and Mike had on a sweater/tie thing, as dressing up was nearly required. We had a contest to freak out the most people at one time with no nudity. I honestly cannot remember what Mike did, but I found a bag of powdered donuts. I took the powder, poured it on a mirror, found a razor blade, cut it inot lines and snorted it through a dollar bill. The massive feakout was amazing, especially when I snapped my head back and did a YEE-HAW.
In retrospect most of those kids probably know a whole lot more about drugs than I do/did, but the one freak out session followed me for a year or two.

Another fun story involves my buddy Sid, Mike and I at a speech meet. The speech meets we went to were about a 9:1 female to male, and we were trying to get a date. Mike didn't want a date so he was just an observer. Sid and I used a ton of different pickup lines, failing miserably for 28 and 30 times. We then decided to make it a contest to see who could rack up the most rejections in a row (Mike was the ref, Sid and I the contestants). I brought a pair of handcuffs with me to the next speech meet, and handcuffed myself to a couple of different girls. I picked up some world class slap marks, and one of the best shrieks I have ever heard.
It took close to 2 years, but I ran my streak to 147 straight rejections or stand-ups. I thought the streak would break, but I got stood up, and so it continued.
Best pickup line ever. (Borrowed from Rodney Carrington) I got a 12 inch dick, a dozen roses, a pick-up truck and hubba hubba hey.
Normal use pickup line "The average human has 206 bones in their body, do you want to be special and have 207?"
I judge the effectiveness due to the icebreaking factor.
Then I got to college, found weightlifting, and fixed my personality somewhat.

Very good Romeo. OK I'll tell the story of Johnny and keg-a-que.

Well Johnny was a little smarter than the rest of us, being an engineer and all, (so smart he took all the foreign students drinking to bring down the curve).

Going to school in Arizona those that had a house with a pool was huge. Johnny and his roommates had a pool. Par-tay! Of course we all hung out at Johnny's and he always had the best tunes and best parties. Well one morning after a long, long night there there a bunch of us sprawled all over the house. Very hungover....and very hungry. It's about 11 am and Johnny says "who's hungry"? We groan, moan and generally muffle incoherent sentences. Johnny, being the engineering kind of guy that he is, starts thinking what to do. He notices there's a keg floating in the pool. Johnny leaves. We sleep. When he reappeared he has a hacksaw, charcoal, chicken wire and burgers. Being poor college kids we didn't have a grill so Johnny decided we needed to make a grill. We proceeded for the next, it must've been, 3 hours cutting that keg in half. The most brutal hangover I've ever worked off in my life. When we were done he put the chicken wire on top and voila'.

Today that keg we cut turned into a product called keg-a-que. Guess I should've studyed harder and become an engineer.

I figured this was a good place to invite all my CDZ friend's to a wild ass party. If you can make it to Chicago please join us.

Purple Pier Party IV

Location: Dock N (aka Juicy's house)
Montrose Avenue and Lake Shore Drive,Chicago,IL View Map
When: Friday, September 9, 5:00pm

READY for IV? FORE!
A long, long time ago........and after only IV days of preparation, the debut performance of the Purple Pier Party I happened. Thanks to Jimmy, Praggie, Trish, Depaul and Ania. It was a huge hit! The picture of Belly Boy Matt Westley will still go down in infamy and of course there was the girl....well let's leave that out.....

ROUND TWO?.....well because there were so many of you we almost sank the dock. We only had Bernie's Aunt Adagio and skipper Gintas fall in the water....

Round THREE? Well due to the almost sinking of the dock the Harbormaster moved us to the middle of the pier for III. Did anyone try and sing with the musician? We only had Chris Chapa fall in the water for III so we're getting a little better on people falling in the water. However, we almost lost the musician because last I saw of him he was sprawled out face first on the dock. Needless to say his girlfriend won't let him come back.....new band guy!

So now we have IV....interested?

So what about this year? PPP IV will serve the legendary Juicy PURPLE and beer too. We have the added attraction of Skrinechops being served. See www.skrinechops.com.
We will be selling a limited supply of cool PPP IV t-shirts for $20 (it will help us to pay for the party too). Of course there will be many other surprises.

...and remember ALWAYS ALWAYS feel free to invite your friends or people not on the email list......AND don't forget to wear something purple!

YIPEE!

Paal...Meli is right. Guys like Redstranger and Inqvisitor are ignorant. Don't let these guys get under your skin becuase they don't know squat. The reality is first generation people in this country are typically some of our most successful citizens.
Here are the facts. I clipped a few things from the Washington Post article for emphasis.

Most of America's millionaires are first-generation rich (about 80 percent). Typically, the fortunes built by these people will be completely dissipated by the second or third generation. The American economy is a fluid one. There are many people today who are on their way to becoming wealthy. And there are many others who are spending their way out of the affluent category.

The Russian ancestry group ranks first, the Scottish ranks second, and the Hungarian ranks third. Although the Russian ancestry group accounts for only about 1.1 percent of all households in America, it accounts for 6.4 percent of all millionaire households. We estimate that approximately 22 of every 100 households headed by someone of Russian ancestry has a net worth of $1 million or more. This is in sharp contrast to the English ancestry group, in which only 7.71 in 100 of its members are in the millionaire league. How much wealth does this Russian American millionaire group have in total? We estimate approximately $1.1 trillion, or nearly 5 percent of all the personal wealth in America today!

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/style/longterm/books/chap1/millionairenextdoor.htm

What I find interesting in this piece is how huge the impact of 2nd generation Hispanics will have on our housing market (and many other things)

I am angry. Angry that events have transpired that lead me to write this statement. Before I begin, let me point out that one of the goals of ruffianism is to render meaningless the words "best" and "worst". Mr. Red Stranger admires that philosophy because, by annihilating human perceptions of quality, Red Stranger's own mediocrity can flourish. His expositors perpetrate all kinds of atrocities while alleging that they are simply not capable of such activities and that therefore, the atrocities must be the product of my and your feverish and overworked imaginations. My vision that some day, people everywhere will tackle the multinational death machine that he is currently constructing is an inspiring dream. Unfortunately, reality always awakens me and reminds me that if Red Stranger can overawe and befuddle a sufficient number of prominent individuals, then it will become virtually impossible for anyone to show principle, gumption, verve, and nerve.

Here's an extraordinary paradox: All of the domineering hucksters who shouldn't be allowed to require religious services around the world to begin with "Red Stranger is great; Red Stranger is good; we thank Red Stranger for our daily food" invariably want to. He hates people who have huge supplies of the things he lacks. What Red Stranger lacks the most is common sense, which underlies my point that on several occasions I have heard him state that his expositions are good for the environment, human rights, and baby seals. I am not able to rightly apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a comment. What I consider far more important, though, is that there are three fairly obvious problems with Red Stranger's animadversions, each of which needs to be addressed by any letter that attempts to instill a sense of responsibility and maturity in those who institutionalize vigilantism through systematic violence, distorted religion, and dubious science. First, I obviously do not intend this letter to be in any way misinterpreted as a personal attack on Red Stranger. Second, there is another side to the issue. And third, we need to look beyond the most immediate and visible problems with Red Stranger. We need to look at what is behind these problems and understand that Red Stranger has been trying to convince us that self-centered, materialistic fault-finders make the best scout leaders and schoolteachers. This pathetic attempt to expand, augment, and intensify the size and intrusiveness of his peuplade deserves no comment other than to say that it's not the boogeyman that our children need to worry about. It's Red Stranger. Not only is Red Stranger more profligate and more politically incorrect than any envisaged boogeyman or bugbear, but it seems clear that as Red Stranger feels less and less need to conceal his bruta fulmina, he makes increasingly open moves towards impetuous feudalism. But we ought to look at the matter in a broader framework before we draw final conclusions on the subject: We see that Red Stranger fervently believes that this is the best of all possible worlds and that he is the best of all possible people. This shows that he is not merely mistaken about one little fact among millions of facts but that I recently received some mail in which the writer stated, "Red Stranger's maneuvers are demagogism redux." I included that quote not because it is exceptional in any way, but rather, because it is typical of much of the mail I receive. I included it to show you that I'm not the only one who thinks that Red Stranger holds onto power like the eunuch mandarins of the Forbidden City -- sterile obstacles to progress who open new avenues for the expression of hate. Almost without exception, Red Stranger's attempts to paralyze any serious or firm decision and thereby become responsible for the weak and half-hearted execution of even the most necessary measures are much worse than mere denominationalism. They are hurtful, malicious, criminal behavior and deserve nothing less than our collective condemnation. Red Stranger is bad enough when he's alone, but he is even worse when he's joined by overweening anarchists. I may not believe that going through the motions of working is the same as working, but I indisputably do maintain that if natural selection indeed works by removing the weakest and most genetically unfit members of a species, then he is clearly going to be the first to go. I've catalogued all of Mr. Red Stranger's foibles -- and the list is pretty big. And that's why I say to you: Have courage. Be honest. And shatter the illusion that the best way to reduce cognitive dissonance and restore homeostasis to one's psyche is to trick us into trading freedom for serfdom. That's the patriotic thing to do, and that's the right thing to do.

number of posters combined in the debate=greater ability for someone to say something of interest.

therefore 2 posters= twice as much chance of better spam than just the one.

there are of course exceptions to the rule for instance meli is an enigma.

This thread has less posts but way more views compared to the other one. And it had been started quite a long time ago.

Regarding quality of spam:

There are two kinds imho. One thread where people like to post and which people also like to read. Another is where people like to post but will never go back and read what they have posted. Philosophy of spam in complicated, multifaceted and somewhat omnipotent.

BCLG100

My theory (developped 3 years ago when I started to post in forums) is that a normal thread has 1 post for 10 views. A spam thread would have many more posts and less views, like this one, and even more like the 'Word Association' thread (which I very rarely visit because I'm not interested).

What they didn't say was that it was a competition from the start, if they had I would have tried harder and certainly not been satisfied with my 1-4 dating success ratio...

I must apologize to ye all. Yesterday I spammed a lot. While that is generally not a bad thing, I managed to semi-revive old stuff. That is not so cool. I guess Heather got me all worked up...And I forgot to look at the dates of the posts in certain threads.

Ah well, there you got me. I don't have him on Facebook.

Shabbaman

Back in the days, when the only thing to complain about civilization was the lack of multiplayer...

What?? Oh you may be talking about Civ1, when I had no clue what issues there were in games.
