Yeah I know I aint dutch but I was forced to share a train with a whole troop of the orange army this morning and apparently its something called Queens Day today (30th) and they were all wearing orange and meeting in a big Dutch pub in London...

Thanks !

(although I'm becoming increasingly convinced that there are few things more evil than congregating middle-aged, balding Dutch blokes wearing all orange. Vive la République ! )

As a true republican, this day is best used to drink huge amounts of beer and watch the national squad humiliate portugal.

drinking huge amounts of beer on a boat on a sunny day is always fun. That sums up queens day. Today is an exception. I'm a republican as well by the way. Guess all republicans in Holland are CIV3 fanatics!

A Republican in Holland is not the same as a Republican in the USA I hope! [eek]

Absolutely not ! To be a republican in Holland is merely to advocate an end to the monarchy, nothing else

Col. happy birthday! Be it a day too late. You know a lot about Holland when you know that we celebrated the birthday of the queen mum.

Cromagnon: yes, that's the way the Dutch party. Actually Queens day is a nice event, but it was raining. Amsterdam was empty in no-time.
