EDIT: Beam has graciously offered to step in, because his game with Puwen is also dead...
Interesting, you decided to move your settler. From where to where? Good luck btw, I'll be reading your spoiler frequently!

Thanks Beam!
I moved the settler E (I was NW of the lake) The reason is I moved the worker E to use the hill for visual range increasement, to see if Rik had put a bonus resource nearby. Unfortunately he didn't but I decided to move anyway beacause I wanted access to the coast. Maybe it is a wasted move but I am hoping this coastal acces will get me contacts earlier. Puwen is up alphabet, so I'm at a disadvantage. Maybe a fast contact will het me alphabet faster... I hope...
If this is on a hill, there could be iron in that hill. Rik tends to place iron really close sometimes. That would have been rather unfortunate then. Besides, this might mean the capital is a bit decentralized for somewhat higher overall corruption or so it seems from the minimap. But as you say, indeed coastal location might be important for having scouting boats.

Conclusion: the word "sometimes" is correct. If it is the case for this map? Only time and Iron Working will tell. [coool]
The problem with having iron too close is that sometimes you are forced to settle on it because locations for the core cities are rather fixed. While having it at a more remote place allows more relaxed placement of core cities without ever willing to move them. And with other cities you just don't settle on hills untill you discover IW. It is usually coming rather soon in the games with AIs.

I haven't seen a save in over seven weeks, and Puwen is consistently ignoring my PM's (he's reading them, but he doesn't reply) and emails, as well as ignoring me on MSN when I try to start a conversation with him.... :(
This game is dead... :(

I wasn't... ;)
It was turn 27, and I had just founded my second city (4-5 turns ago)...

I wonder if Beam's game against him stalled out as well?

It has... :(
I've already been in contact with Beam about this. He's also heard nothing for a long time now...
Indeed, still no sign from Puwen. :(
Edit: We might consider the 2 of us continue with one of the stalled Puwen games.

You'd best contact Rik for the password.
