Good, ERIKK. :) I see you have JUST changed your sig, back into business again ? [cool] I'll only play in one game (Game #4), so I'm not interested in playing in Game #5. But what interests me with Game #5 is the possibility to have an order receiver from that game, and vice-versa, like we did with Games #1 and #2.

I could play, but I'd also would have prefered 1 game.

If flux and/or OnCider want to play 2 games Krys and I could leave them our spot in game 4 and we would only need 1 more player on game 5.

OnCider

I'd prefer to play just one game for now - I'm running another game on another forum.

[bump]

I volunteer for order receiver in this game. :) But we'd also need one for Game #4. And you guys should obviously set up this game first.

*in a spooky yet persuasive voice*
you are feeling like playing the classic of all strategy games, the grandaddy of multiplayer, the life experiance that is known to us as 'the game of Diplomacy'. you will sign up immediately for the 5th diplomacy game. once we start playing you send all your orders on time, hopefully you will engage in lots of actual diplomacy too, but we will take what we can get as we don't want to push our luck... SIGN UP NOW!SIGN UP NOW!SIGN UP NOW!

this is a bump on behalf of the 5th diplomacy game

In the hope that this game will get going, I thought I'd post my preference list:

1. France
2. Italy
3. Turkey
4. Russia
5. Germany
6. Britain
7. Austria

Although I don't really mind as its been a while since I last played.

Ok, you don't know me, and I don't know you, but I'll gladly sign your treaties with the same florish that orders my armies into your capital this fall!

Like my attitude? Then I'll take the reins of the seventh power. I'm green as hell so I may take a bit of a beating, but that dosn't worry me. What I lack in Diplomacy experience I like to think I make up in low cunning....

ERIKK

I am starting to doubt it. He posted an interest in the game 4 thread. Then the game 5 thread was created (a long time ago). I send him a PM a couple of days ago but he did not open it.

Looking at game 4, maybe Krys wants to join this game when flux doesnt.

Damn this is difficult! But I think I have found a reasonable solution.

ERIKK - Germany (1st choice and only as 1st choice)
flux - England (1st choice and only as 1st choice)
OnCider - Italy (2nd choice and highest choice for Italy)
Stapel - Russia (1nd choice (joined) / Barbu can have Austria (2nd highest for Austria))
Barbu - Austria (3rd choice - see Stapel)
DrA - France (1st choice (joined) / squid can have Turkey (highest choice for Turkey))
squidbeastie - Turkey (2nd choice - see DrA)

France is difficult but for DrA his 2nd and 3th are already taken.
Also squid and OnCider can have there 2nd choices. The solution as above seems a very good one.

Russia, Barbu gets his 3rd choice but Austria is not populair.
There is one alternative if Barbu objects:

Erikk - Austria (2nd choice)
Stapel - Germany (2nd choice)
barbu - Russia (1st choice)
The rest stays the same.

If anyone finds a better solution, then show it to us! :)

Barbu - it's your call: I am ok with Austria too. Its either a 1-1-3 or a 2-2-1.

?The 15th is a sunday, I don't mind a change in order timing, but it may be simpler to stick with the form.

I'd like to start as soon as possible[charge](but there isn't too much choice for Turkey, but others may have different ideas). We could try for this friday, and call it off if someone cant work with that.

Ditto to that.

ERIKK
10-05-2005, 15:34
emails
Could all please PM me your emailadresses and MSN adresses (if available)? I will redistribute them to all members. Better not post adresses in the forum as they are picked up by spiders.

startdate
Stapel will be back by the 15th (thats what Barbu meant). So then we can start. The first orderdate will be that following friday. Orders will be PM'd to krys.

schedule
We will use the schedule as stated in the "what you need to remember thread" (http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1605).

Weekly standard schedule :
- Monday, after results are posted : turn starts ;
- Friday, 20:00 : deadline for movement orders ;
- Friday, after 20:00 : results are posted on CDZ ;
- Saturday, 20:00 : deadline for retreat orders ;
- Saturday, after 20:00 : retreats are posted on CDZ ;
- Monday, 20:00 : deadline for adjustment orders (falls) ;
- Monday, after 20:00 : adjustments are posted on CDZ (falls), turn ends, next turn starts...

The moment the orders are posted depends on the availability of the order reciever. Most of the times Krys will be around Friday late at night. For the rest check that thread and remind that we play quite loosly here at CDZ. People can miss deadlines due to circumstances. As long as they are valid we not immediately ruin the game with NMR's.

squidbeastie
10-05-2005, 21:46
Are times GMT?

And when can we start negotiating?

ERIKK
10-05-2005, 22:04
Check the thread squid:

Time is the GMT one : it applies for the whole year (so it effectly changes twice a year, due to light saving time). So :
- during winter in the Northern hemisphere, 20:00 GMT means 20:00 in England, and 21:00 in the Netherlands ;
- during summer in the Northern hemisphere, 20:00 GMT means 21:00 in England, and 22:00 in the Netherlands. they are GMT.

As far As I am concerned you can start right away but it would be wise to send me your email and MSN as requested in my post before. If you dont knwo the players email or MSN you can still send PM's at CDZ.

[wallbash]hi

we may have a problem. I know DRA in RL
DRA has not been seen for the past week and this is perplexing and worrying me slighty in RL. Nobody sees to have been able to track the guy down.
As we have not started the game yet i think it ight be wise and prundent to pospone the start of the game for a week.
i sorry to be the bringer of bad news but i do believe that we should give him a chance to contact us and let us know whether he can play or not.
this is a slighty unusual position to be in.
I really think we should give him another week to contact one of us
btw has he contacted any of you guys

im not sure whats happening

but as i said before i think if its not to much of a inconvinence to every that we pospone the start date for a week.

wanna give him a chance to make contact.

He has read my PM last night but did not respond... He is also playing game 5 by the way. Dunno if we should delay - we have waited very long IMHO, maybe DrA can post here to say what he thinks. After all: he has been online on CDZ today:

I've no problem with Russia not moving, makes my life easyer!

If DrA has been online then he still exists, shall we ask everyone to get there orders in by the deadline, and then see what happens. They might still come through with their moves, or they might be late. I saw staple on msn, yesterday, and (as we didn't actualy discuss anything) I quote:
(me)Good afternoon Tsar;)
(Staple)Hi there!
(Staple)Dude, you got me at an impossible time!
(me) No worries
(Staple)I'll be online tomorrow, all day
(me) See you then

There you go, I didn't see him the next day, but I might just not have noticed, diplomacy of the highest order, I'm sure you'll agree.

all have showed activity on the game except DrA (apart from logging in on CDZ and reading PM's). I dont need to have a delay yet. If DrA requests one we must consider it of course. DrA knows our CDZ view on NMR's so no worries here.

Really sorry all, I was in France on Friday buying wine for my wedding in August. In all the rush, I forgot to send in my orders before I went.

If you don't want to delay then NMR me (it won't make much difference to my survival I fear). Otherwise I'll send my orders in today.

Again, my sincerest apologies.

But it can't hold! Thus disbands.

ERIKK
12-07-2005, 09:28
Yeah I auto-disbanded the fleet. I wanted to post the result as we already had all the dealys again but was in an incredible hurry yesterday night. So I oversaw the option to retreat the fleet. That is my second blunder this diplo-year. I could have held Denmark in hindsight with some more joint effort with Russia... As Russia cant place an extra build things look realy stupid now... I should have retreated!

At the looks of the board the situation is dramaticly deterioating for the axis powers anyway.

Good holiday?

I think we should look for a replacement, see what we've got, then decide what to do over the weekend. Obviously if OnCider is still in, then we won't give him the boot! I doubt I can round up any experienced players, I have some RL friends who don't know how to play (yet!) but could be ropped in, and know a few from other forums who can play, but -as I don't know them that well- I'd rather not ask them in, only to tell them they're not needed!

Socrates
20-09-2005, 12:33
I volunteer to pick up Italy. :) Taking someone else's place isn't something I do and like doing, but I feel it is needed so as we don't start to have dead games here. I opened the latest orders in my PM box a while ago, and you could imagine that I had no will to actually read them and stuff. Still, we should have someone else to send the orders to. I'll look into it. About this very turn, up to you : either resend your orders to the new guy, or keep the ones you sent to me, and I'll post them. However, with me as the new player, orders may look a bit different. I propose we set the deadline on next Friday. Is everyone here ? [hmm]

I've received one or may be two orders, cannot tell since one set of orders is labeled but another one which I received some time ago is not clearly marked so I cannot tell whether it is for this weak or for some other week. How many total orders I should get?

I think this will be delayed another week... We need to find a solution about england.

We could flip to declare Italy or england or both in civil disorder.
Maybe puting england in civil disorder will have less impact on the game.

I think we have a couple of rather loyal players to the game. It would be a shame to end it.

But in any case, we need an answer from stapel.

I could bring a novice into the game, but he would be relying on me & this would be a little like me having control of England, not good.

I think this game has ended now (rather unfortunally). Sorry for that... :(
