quote:29311 spectators arrived at The Yard, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. United had chosen a strategic 5-3-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Koppala - Onishi, Forsdahl, Vandenbulcke, Seiberl, Mustătea - Waltari, Becker, Maurmair - Hand, Rowe.

Marlins started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Refkivanza - Noonan, Cassella, Packer - Daish, Tuilagi, Johnson, Waaka, Sparke - Allen, Ibrahim.

It was an obvious ambition of Marlins to attack on the flanks. Uniteds Jost Becker gave, after 29 minutes, the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. Jeff Packer came close to levelling the score in the 33rd minute, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post. Kenneth Johnson came close to levelling the score in the 34:th minute, as he was set up with a through ball coming in from the left, but his shot hit the post. 39 minutes into the game Marlins´s Anthony Allen found a gap in the home sides central defense scoring to make it 1 - 1. After 40 minutes Marlins´s Eko Refkivanza contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 1. Marlins, bringing the final ball possession rate to 63 percent, dominated the battle.

Taylor Tuilagi came close to putting the visiting team one up in the 54:th minute, following a solo raid down the middle, but Markku Koppala managed to tip the ball to a corner. The referee showed Marlins's Mohammad Ibrahim the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. United were forced to a substitution as Joeli Rowe couldn´t continue playing due to the rough treatment, forcing Thijs Keller to come in from the sidelines. Robert Daish seemed to be floating in the air at will as he elegantly headed in 1-2. The previous Marlins corner kick was executed by Mohammad Ibrahim. The incalculable Brady Hand of United did everything right as he set up Ĺke Waltari for a goal in the 85:th minute. Unfortunately, the strike missed it´s target. The referee signalled a penalty in the 87:th minute following an offence just inside of the box. Mohammad Ibrahim knocked home 1 - 3 just out of reach for the goaltender. After 87 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Bertran Sparke who increased Marlins´s lead to 1 - 4. Marlins held the ball, with a clear 67 percent possession rate.

United´s best player was Constantin Mustătea. Jost Becker on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Marlins player was Taylor Tuilagi. Robert Daish on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 4.

I honestly was not expecting this awesome result. :D I think this may have had a hand in it though.

The #2 lost as well, so I move up to that spot. :D Two cruisy games against the walkover team over the next two weeks, and then a rematch. I've also got the lowest goals against in my league. Things are looking good! :D

Duffield Dynamoes - Meli's Manglers 4 - 0

Arena: Eyes Meadow
Crowd: 19575

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 19575 at Eyes Meadow today. Duffield had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Majerski - Pavesi, Anderlei, Longhurst, Magnusson - Bosch, Falmar, Bohborn, Eggbeck - Trudgian, Montes.

Manglers tactics involved an interesting 4-5-1 combination. Lineup: Becerra - Spreadbury, Carrol, Castellanos, Bryan - Magnusson, Carroll, Denezhkina, Germain, Quigley-Parks - Taylor.

Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Manglers. After a fine move down the middle Agostino Montes nearly gave the home side one up in the 13th minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Giancarlo Pavesi gave his Duffield the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged both the guests central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the goaltenders right post. After 24 minutes Manglers´s Stephen Taylor contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. After 29 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Agostino Montes might have resulted in another goal for Duffield. However, Félix Becerra made a spectacular save. Halftime score was 1 - 0. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Duffield, with an impressive 57 percent possession of the ball.

A great save by goaltender Félix Becerra in the 46th minute kept the visitors in the game as Bay Trudgian struck from the left with a real cannonball. Duffield put themselves up 2 - 0 when Jonas Falmar broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. The home sides Ulf Bohborn twisted a free kick home in the 59:th minute, putting Duffield ahead 3 - 0. The structure of the game started to change as Duffield decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Duffield´s Ulf Bohborn had an excellent opportunity in the 64:th minute, shooting on a through ball, but he missed the goal by miles! 4 - 0 was a funny story: the seemingly nonchalant lob from Duffield´s Daniel Anderlei landed at the feet of Agostino Montes who sent it into the net - goal! Duffield held the ball, with a clear 57 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Duffield player was without a doubt Giancarlo Pavesi. Daniel Anderlei was a disappointment, however. Manglers´s best player was Félix Becerra. Octave Germain on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 4 - 0.

And another loss whilst PICing with my reserves.

:D

At least I got the formation straight this week [goodjob]

MatchID: 35938962
Arena: Wartham United Arena
Crowd: 27821

At Wartham United Arena, 27821 punters turned up, and despite threatening clouds at the horizon, no rain came. Wartham started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Gray - Edwards, Mason, Budd - Pelgrims, Crook, Moulin, Laporte - Wallace, Ryan, Smets.

bedwardios started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. The following players had been chosen: Bagwell - Myslivec, Abel, Kärrstad - Osullivan, Rublevskis, Tarallo, Nobre, Cannon - Broekhuizen, Murthi.

Wartham seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Warthams Matthew Ryan gave, after 4 minutes, the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. In the 7:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Guy Smets dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Wartham. After an industrious effort down the middle Matthew Ryan could have closed the game off in the 15:th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. The referee showed Wartham's Richard Budd the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Wartham´s George Crook had an excellent opportunity in the 28:th minute, shooting on a through ball, but he missed the goal by miles! In the 29:th minute Wartham put themselves up 3 - 0. The visitors defenders lost the ball to Max Mason coming up from the left, who proceeded to cooly round the goaltender and knock the ball home. 3 - 0 was the half-time score. Wartham held the ball, with a clear 63 percent possession rate.

Cain Wallace should probably have put his team up another goal in the 46:th minute, but some great goaltending by Tommy Bagwell kept the visitors in the game. Nicolae Laporte almost managed to score another goal for Wartham, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. In the game's 68th minute, Wartham's Matthew Ryan fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Matthew Ryan for taking a dive. Joe-Max Murthi had a couple of good opportunities to reply, but the home team´s goaltender Allen Gray just wouldn´t surrender. Wartham held the ball, with a clear 67 percent possession rate.

The most dominating Wartham player was without a doubt Robert Pelgrims. Max Mason on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating bedwardios player was without a doubt Gianfranco Tarallo. Augusto Nobre on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 3 - 0.

Not bad :)

Pretty happy with having a poor (high) midfield whilst playing normal. Thats a sublevel higher than when I MOTSed earlier in the season. Also a new record attendence at my stadium which means that I will need to consider upgrading again as it was an overcast game.

quote:Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 23361 at nick's Arena today. nick's tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. Lineup: McKevitt - Toering, Škrobánek, van der Lip - Wallentowitz, Kronbach, Lindhout, Rappold, Gutierrez - Stĺlgren, Vingren.

PP tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: Cohen - van Zeeland, Buurman, Boote - Kiilerich, Daemen, van Harsselaar, Wis, Johnston - Drent, Beugels.

nick's mostly ignored the flanks in favour of attacks in the middle. nick's made a bid to take the lead as a ball coming in from the right hand side left Ola Vingren completely alone with keeper Zeev Cohen, who made a spectacular block. The referee showed nick's's Helmuth Kronbach the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, Sjors Drent spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. The terraces were silenced in the 19:th minute as PP´s Sjors Drent put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack from the right. PP came close to extending their lead as Lars van Harsselaar delivered a long range shot from the right but the angle was too sharp, and the shot hit the side of the goal. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, PP's Jarl Kiilerich got himself booked. Allard Boote was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner which was then extended by Ludo van Zeeland, but the ball went into the frame. The referee showed nick's's Ola Vingren the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Alan Johnston the unlucky victim, couldn´t continue the game, so Yuri Kloppenberg had to come off the bench. 0 - 1 was the half-time score. nick's held the ball, with a clear 59 percent possession rate.

In the 50:th minute Robin Škrobánek went down in a suspected penalty situation after a challenge from the visitors right guard, but the referee, having a good line of sight, signalled to keep on playing. In the 66th minute, PP's Sjors Drent received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. nick's's Sem Toering got himself booked after a foul. Sjors Drent stunned the crowd with a brilliant counterattack from the left, giving PP the goal to make it 0 - 2. PP had to manage with a reduced squad from the 76th minute on, as Yuri Kloppenberg got sent off for a foul in a free situation. nick's didn´t give in and in the 77:th minute Ola Vingren was able to put the 1 - 2 goal away after a play from the right. In the 82th minute nick's's Robin Škrobánek head butted an opponent nastily, and so the referee sent him off immediately. nick's held the ball, with a clear 59 percent possession rate.

nick's´s best player was Curtis McKevitt. Willem van der Lip on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating PP player was without a doubt Zeev Cohen. Mees Buurman on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 2.

Beforehand I knew the odds were very, very slightly in my favor so this victory is very much welcomed. The agressiveness of the match kinda dampens the good feelings as 2 formidable winger are out next week. One because he got injured by my opponents extremely agressive team and the other because he got redcarded. (Off course I told them a tooth for tooth :)) No big deal, if form doesnt change to much I can maintain current star ratings next weak by just shifting a little.

And look at the league table :D [coool] [crazyeye]

1. PP SV_____________6 13 - 7 12
2. ka3_______________6 11 - 5 12
3. gangstars000______6 13 - 9 12
4. Octopus___________6 11 - 9 9
5. Del Deus United___6 7 - 10 7
6. SLH United________6 7 - 11 7
7. nick's dream team_6 11 - 12 6
8. Smullies__________6 8 - 18 6

Off course there's no way I'm gonna stay in 1st place, but for the time being it's nice and this did convince me that staying in 6th should be no problem this season.

21580 on a total capacity of 21689 means an almost sold out arena with only 619 fans! [eek] [yeah]

And there was also some splendid football being played on the pitch, resulting in an important step towards the league title:

quote:
A scorching day at FC De Snaken Arena, where 21580 spectators were in place for today´s match. Snaken had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Durzyński - Fleury, Öztürk, Flores D'Arcais - Malmholt, Hintermayr, Kajak, Balyon, Böőr - Sánchez, de Silguy.

emmen had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: Davids - Hofkes, Boshouwers, Hartog - MacDonaill, Crookshanks, Bemelmans, Sikora - MacPhedran, Blatter, Lobjois.

emmen clearly preferred attacks in the middle. Laurenty Kajak received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 4:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score. Baldemar Hintermayr was very close to giving Snaken the lead with an ingenious free kick routine in the 7:th, the ball just grazing the bar. Some beautiful plays on the left side of the field resulted in a 7:th minute goal by Mathieu Fleury for Snaken, putting them ahead 1 - 0. Baldemar Hintermayr increased Snaken´s lead to 2 - 0 from a penalty spot cannonball. After 23 minutes emmen´s Romain Lobjois contracted a slight foot injury, but could finish the game. Halftime score was 2 - 0. Snaken held the ball, with a clear 72 percent possession rate.

A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Snaken lead up with 3 - 0. Wietse Balyon finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. In the 64th minute, Snaken's Laurenty Kajak received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Snaken put themselves up 4 - 0 when Olivier de Silguy broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. The structure of the game started to change as Snaken decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. After 64 minutes Diego Flores D'Arcais put Snaken ahead 5 - 0 as he rose to head in a hooked ball, the result of an effort from the right side. In the game's 69th minute, Snaken's Krisztián Böőr fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Krisztián Böőr for taking a dive. Olivier de Silguy almost managed to score another goal for Snaken, but his header was tipped to a corner by the visitors goalie. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Snaken, with an impressive 72 percent possession of the ball.

Most important Snaken player was Marcin Durzyński. Krisztián Böőr was a disappointment, however. The most dominating emmen player was without a doubt Luke Crookshanks. However, Shayne MacDonaill made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 5 - 0.

@PP/Thrawn: great results, and who knows PP SV and Black Marlins can go all the way this season? [cool]

quote:St. Cloud Wolves - Chemists 1 - 5
Date: 3/14/2005 at 01.00
MatchID: 36871757
Arena: Wolf Den Stadium
Crowd: 11000
11000 spectators had come to Wolf Den Stadium this cloudy day. Wolves had chosen a strategic 4-4-2 formation. They fielded: Calderon - Williams, Ruvalcaba, Adalb#233;ron, Hunter - Ferro, Bollea, Garc#237;a, Lundy - Brandsten, Camarena.

Chemists tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. They fielded: Fugate - Norris, Beal, Parker - Robitaille, Stoleru, De Moral, Hammond - Patton, Spencer, Mininni.

Wolves were mostly trying to use the flanks for their attacks. A well placed corner kick from Mark Patton was followed by Jackie Spencer#180;s hard but accurate header. The nice combination meant goal for Chemists. The result now 0-1. Chemists#180;s Jackie Spencer made it through the home teams defence in the 4:th minute, and had only to place the ball in an unguarded goal when the home side#180;s defender sprang up from the left, clearing the ball on the line. After 8 minutes of play Whitney Bollea equalised for Wolves after an elegant attack from the right. A badly positioned defensive formation on a free kick in the 17:th minute led to Chemists#180;s Mark Patton giving the visitors the lead 1 - 2. The visitors Mark Patton took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side#180;s goalie and central backs in the 22nd minute. 1 - 3 for Chemists. Chemists's Javier Robitaille got himself booked after a foul. Rudy Adalb#233;ron the unlucky victim, couldn#180;t continue the game, so Wu Thien-Dzung had to come off the bench. The teams went for a half-time break at 1 - 3. Chemists, bringing the final ball possession rate to 70 percent, dominated the battle.

The visitors Jackie Spencer took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side#180;s goalie and central backs in the 59:th minute. 1 - 4 for Chemists. Ric#227; Stoleru received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 60:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score. After 66 minutes of game time Eugene Norris received an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Xavier Calderon was in the right place, tipping the ball to a corner. Wu Thien-Dzung still has a lot to learn. For instance not to make half-hearted passes in front of Mark Patton who scored for Chemists to make it 1-5. This third goal made a hat trick for Mark Patton. By now Chemists were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. Wolves had a brilliant opportunity to reply as Mario Ruvalcaba received a high ball from the right, striking the ball still in the air. Only Dave Fugate#180;s reflexes saved him. Jackie Spencer came close to extending the visitors lead as he, completely unmarked in front of the goal, lifted a ball over Xavier Calderon, hitting the bar. After 85 minutes of game time Javier Robitaille received an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Xavier Calderon was in the right place, tipping the ball to a corner. Chemists, bringing the final ball possession rate to 80 percent, dominated the battle.

The most dominating Wolves player was without a doubt Xavier Calderon. Wu Thien-Dzung on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Chemists player was without a doubt Marcos Hammond. Burt Parker was a disappointment, however. The match ends 1 - 5.

That was easy, I anticipated more resistance but he had a few players injured apparently and AoW was not the best idea to play in this particular match since my winger and wingbacks are stronger than his. Also, two solid midfields I've recently bought for cheap are gaining form and this results in rather nice possessions. I gues I'll try to beat the Kievan number 1 team and will fight dearly for the first place. But still fishing youth squad for keeper yields no result and I need one at least solid badly before the next two matches with league leaders. May be it is a good idea to buy a solid one for about 100K or above. The problem is also that I have sold somehow one of the forward trainees without passing (there is little sense to train him beyond excel) who had a solid leadership and my team spirit dropped a notch even though the game was won.

quote:
17999 spectators had come to The Yellow Boot this cloudy day. Yellow had chosen a strategic 3-5-2 formation. The following players had been chosen: Brown - Örnbom, Righetti, Allesch - Pilar, Mahmoud, Biler, Berntsen, Burri - Tomlin, Burney.

MOABs had chosen a strategic 3-4-3 formation. The following players had been chosen: Řrbćk - Casares, Kirk, Miller - Eysker, Mcneal, Aramburu, Ber#269;i#269; - Tjäderblom, Sahin, Wallace.

Yellow were mostly trying to use the flanks for their attacks. MOABs mostly ignored the flanks in favour of attacks in the middle. Yellow broke through to the left in the 6:th minute, Theodore Burney firing at an acute angle giving the home side a 1 - 0 lead. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, MOABs's John Tjäderblom got himself booked. After an industrious effort down the middle Silvio Biler could have closed the game off in the 19:th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. Billie Tomlin of Yellow received a yellow card in the 20th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Yellow lead up with 2 - 0. Rickard Örnbom finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. In the 41th minute, MOABs's Wolfgang Sahin received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Shadi Qassem Mahmoud the unlucky victim, couldn´t continue the game, so Miguel Pińeiro had to come off the bench. Michel Righetti received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 43rd minute and almost caused an opponent to score. After 43 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Billie Tomlin might have resulted in another goal for Yellow. However, Jan Řrbćk made a spectacular save. MOABs showed their counterattack skill in the 44:th minute, with Thomas Wallace scoring uncontested for 2 - 1. Yellow's Tom Allesch got himself booked after a foul. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Billie Tomlin squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 44:th minute, asserting the lead to 3 - 1. The teams went for a half-time break at 3 - 1. Yellow held the ball, with a clear 63 percent possession rate.

Yellow put themselves up 4 - 1 when Billie Tomlin broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. A speedy charge from the left side of the field put Yellow lead up with 5 - 1. Tomislav Pilar finished that one off competently, firing from an acute angle. Yellow's Silvio Biler got himself booked after a foul. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, Wolfgang Sahin spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. MOABs showed some good morale and were, in the 88:th minute, able to reduce the score to 5 - 2 as Jamie Mcneal got past the home sides full backs straight in front of the goal. A bit later, a magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Yellow´s Michel Righetti putting the lead up to 6 - 2. By now Yellow were drawing the troops back in order to defend their lead. A penalty in the 88:th minute gave the home side a chance at adding to the score, but an overconfident Billie Tomlin shot the ball wide, in an effort to put it away in the top corner. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Yellow, with an impressive 63 percent possession of the ball.

The most dominating Yellow player was without a doubt Silvio Biler. Tom Allesch on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important MOABs player was Thomas Wallace. Alton Miller on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 6 - 2. An excellent result for me, a 4-goal win ending a 4-game losing streak. I got very lucky to pull such a margin of victory; I got nearly every chance with 63% possession. My opponent has incredible attack (his best forward once was rated the best in the USA by Hatstats) but all other ratings are fairly bad. I tried a gambit by sacrificing defense and replacing my defenders with midfielders and wingers played offensively. The downside to this game is that one of my main trainees was given a 7 week injury; that's going to mess up training big time. Up next are two back-to-back games against a team fairly similar to mine. If I sweep him, I'll probably be able to count on getting a qualifier, especially if I beat MOABs again as well. I'm hoping I can pull it off!
