View Full Version : The Orca Vs the Cat **** SPOILER ****

We got a game on Emp level. Cat is Arabia, I am Celts.

In turn 9 I met Greece. Sold pottery for Bronze + 1 gold. I couldn't afford Alphabet. So I am researching Alphabet myself; for a Philo gamble.

Turn 43 update - Is this the end ???

I'm developing quiet nicely; Meleetopolis is by far the biggest city in the world (all other Capitals are size 2). I got it up to 10 spt and 5 food per turn and a spear + settler factory in 5 turns; with extra food (shared with other cities).

I've met the Greek, Iro's and Russians. I like having scentific civs around me, quick research. All civs are about 5 techs up on me; but noone has writing yet. If I can get it first I'll be ok for now.

Apparently the Iroquois got in a very very early war; as they were below me from the start.

I fear I'm going to be a victim of a Russian sneak attack. A spear + warrior are close to Paradise city. A spear is going there but I fear he'll be too late. If I loose Paradise city it could well be game over for me. [help]

I hope they are just Barb-hunting (Raging barbs)... [sad]

My strategy for now is to have Meleetopolis on spear-settler duty; Paradise city on workers; Phonebooth in Vegas on workers or settlers as well and the new city (on the hill NW of the spear-settler pair) on rax and units.

In turn 49 I researched Writing first on my continent. All 3 opponents had at least 5 techs up on me, but none had writing. Russia gave only shit for it; so they were left out. I did this trade:

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Rik Meleet/200512913026_turn 49 trade.JPG

And immediately after that; in turn 50; Greece demanded 20 gold. :( I gave it.

And turn 51; my lands look like this:

As you can see, I renamed all cities except for my capital, as parts of songs I like. For the lurkers this is a quiz; what song + artist/band has my city names in one of their songs ??

A little extra contest. PM me the band/artist + song-title for an honorary title in my forum !!!

Edit: the most western city is called (easily) "Paradise city"

Meleetopolis is a Meleetification of the Seigmen song Metropolis? Or the Dream Theater "Metropolis"?

or nothing of the sort at all...

I am glad Killer cant recall the shitty stuff - that would be worth crap to remember ;)

Anyway, cant say I know these song titles either, except for the Appetite for Destruction song :)

Anyway, Paalikles, You've also earned yourself a honorary title as "no dark sarcasm" is indeed from:

I won't post your names in the Honorary list yet, as I don't want to give TheCat information about the number of my cities. But your names will be updated there!!

Joshua Kadison - Jessie

From a phone booth in Vegas, Jessie calls at 5 A.M.
to tell me how she's tired of all of them.
She says, "Baby, I been thinking 'bout a trailer by the sea.
We could go to Mexico... you, the cat ;) and me.
We'll drink tequila and look for sea shells.
Now, doesn't that sound sweet?"
Oh, Jessie, you always do this every time I get back on my feet.(..)

and:

Melissa Etheridge - Like the way I do.

Is it so hard to satisfy your senses

Scratching and crawling along the floor to touch you
And just when it feels right you say you found someone else to hold you

There is nothing that hurts an AI more than early war. The Iro's were also lagging in the beginning, perhaps due to early wars as well or by bad luck against barbarians. This would mean that conquering my continent won't be extremely difficult.

Turn 80. It seems our kitten is building some culture in her Capital. But I am the biggest and the most productive. 2 more cities are planned and then it's conquest to keep the music-city quiz going.

I am 5 turns away from Republic. I have horses and Iron and 3 luxes. They are all a few turns away from being completely connected. I wait till the network is completed and some urgent buildigns or units have completed before I revolt.

Turn 84 update
The expansion phase is nearly over. I have 2 settlers which are on their way to the red dots. I have 3 luxes connected and Iron and Horses. Republic due in 1.

Time for a map:

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Rik Meleet/200529224838_map 84 crammed.JPG
133.97KB

As you might notice; the city-layout is not as crammed as it was in the Rik-Beam game. It doesn't have to be; I won't be in continous war (thus needing specialists, thus needing fewer tiles per city) nor am I alone.

I will revolt as soon as possible. And then prepare for a conquest of either Greece (to let Iroquois nation finish the Pyramids) or the Iro's if they finish the Pyramids before that. But I prefer Greece as they've already had their Golden Age (I must assume the Greek-Russian war did that) so they won't be in advanced and speeded-up unit building frenzy when I strike them. And I have Russia as an ally against them. Sure eliminating a scientific civ before the next age has its drawbacks, so perhaps I let them live till then.

The game is going slower. Not many turns are played.

I've send out more galleys to meet the others; they all sank. I declared war on Greece, starting my Golden Age and razed Delphi. I resettled a city in that area, called "The world was on fire".

I'm going to take over Greece completely. By that time the Iroquois are bound to have build the Pyramids, so they are next. The last victim will be tiny Russia. And then I go cat-hunting.
