grahamiam: I have it, it is in the mailbox, so at least that worked :) Will run off to buy new HDD now, then reinstall with (finally) legal WinXP version and then set up mial and civ and......... PLAY MY PBEMS!!!!!!!! [party]

no problem, just making sure ;) i lost a nice drive last may and know how much of a pain it is (well, it couldn't have been that nice if it crapped out). luckily, all my software was legal so all i had to do was buy a big, fat SATA drive :D

things are going slowly....

it seems our uni's central computer department has an automatic blocking function for PCs that spread viruses or worms. And it seems Kerio Personal Firewall is a worm - at least, installing it got my PC blocked. Unblocking can take up to 3 days. I will go out now, eat some chocolate, walk around town windowshopping and slug the first computer science guy I encounter.
