hi,
i'm looking to start playing pbem's and this is the place for that :) as this is my 1st one, i'll probably need a little hand-holding in the beginning as i cut my teeth on this. i got half a brain so it shouldn't be too painful. however, i'm not even sure on the standard rules used here so any references would be great.
i'm looking to start the game early Nov, which, hopefully, will be enough time for someone to take up my offer.
level: emperor prefered (being the 1st pbem, i don't want the AI to be influential at all) but will do +/- 1 level if desired. i've beaten diety solo on vanilla, PTW, and C3C. sid experience has been limited and humiliating. [lol]
C3C 1.22f preferred
map: continents
size: small but max land (60% ocean)
age: 5 billion
opponents: max for map size
barbs off
SGL's off
i would like to play as the arabs as I haven't played them recently.
any takers out there?
btw, i will be away from Oct 24th thru Oct 31st [surf] so, hopefully, someone can pick me up before then and we can get the process with the map rolling.

hey, now you have two offers - tough I have little time lately. I can play a few non-important turns on most days, but all that requires thinking is limited by work to mx 1 turn a day. That fine with you?

hey, 2 quick answers!
actually, i'm on the East Coast USA so if your in Europe, probably 1/day is the fastest we could do :) and i wouldn't mind a relaxed pace. however, if your too stuffed, i certainly understand as i'm that way atm (hence the early Nov. start date)

well, then let's request a map!
how about this: standart, 4 AI, map maker chooses map settings. barbs off or medium level (the latter if one of us takes an expansionist civ).
I would like to play the same civ as you - e.g. both as Maya? Or both as Germans?
make a suggestion :)

ok, sounds good, prepare to kick my ass, haha. my suggestion is the arabs as i haven't played them in a while and i really enjoy thier cheap UU.
any special rules or exploits disallowed?
edit: barbs off as per the list above :)

I'd say we stick to the usual list of exploits: CFC GOTM rules?
max 1 MA vs humans per 20 turns, no teleporting units, anything else?

well, no problem there! ROP rape is an exploit by any definition anyways. But I reserve myself the right to attack an AI during ROP as they do attack during ROPs - not with a stack next to each city but normally across the border!

yep, that's fine. ship chaining also disallowed here? btw, RoP Rape is not a disallowed gotm exploit so i just wanted to be clear. they allow some very nasty shit/abuse to go on in those games.

Trillian is great. Your sitting on ICQ, MSN, YIM, AOL and irc all for 16 Megs of swap file and no spyware installed!!! Probably, if you try to install all these messengers, your XP would not start at all!!
Since the thread was already hijacked...forget about all those fance messengers and get some IRC client.
mirc sucks unless you pay regstration for it. Cannot even make a normal chat log.
huh, in which world does that happen? It logs anything in anyway you like (i use mIRC for more than 10 years and it could always log). You go File - Options - Logging and set it up.
What is worse, is that most people nowaday don't even now what IRC is. They just say mIRC, but thats only a client. It would be the same if you said you can read that in IE instead of look in the www / web or whatever. It is the same as confusing outlook with email or say ford instead of car...weired.
I had lots of trouble using irc either with mirc of with web interface. That was in Moscow though. And I did not have normal firewall installed. However must admit it is the best chat medium compared to others. I'm still using it almost exclusively at work. Bad thing, it does not support Russian-Cyrillic normally and uses some weird encoding. Regarding logs and especially long one, they were consistently screwed with unregistered version. It was a known bug iirc, may be they fixed it but I cannot update the client at the University without paying for it.

@grs: I know!! I go on irc.irc-chat.net for the civfanatics channel...someone should set up a cdz one. ;) You can log mIRC without registering it. And the logs do work for me.
