On the active users list, I just saw Ginger Ale viewing topics in ISDG forum. Which is strange since he shouldnt be able to see it. Which isnt good because he is a teammember for cfc

I told you all he was a spy from CFC !!! :( Burn him ! Onto the stake !! No trial for traitors !!!

Now yeah that is weird, technically speaking. Did he stay there for a long time ? I checked that when I saw Beam lurking my spoiler, before seeing that he was conceding the game. How is that possible, must be a bug... [???]

In light of my thread in GA's forum, I thought I would add that it might be possible that GA thought we had a public ISDG forum as well. AFAIK, we dont though...

Just saying that people do strange things sometime. I do a lot.

I don't know how you saw that - I was viewing the topic for the ISDG - in the Civ3 GD forum - not the forum itself. :)

And thanks krs. [:p]

This "lurking" has no relationship to CFC team. I would kindly ask Ginger Ale to behave. Otherwise the issue might go to the UN and either of both teams can be penalized. Please also consider that since the described events are public here at CDZ I unfortunately have to make them public at CFC as well.

What???? I do not have access to CDZ's ISDG forum - if you want to log in as me and try, please PM me. Why would you think I have access to CDZ's forum??!?!

I;m a bit confused. The topic in the GD forum has a different name and also the pic says 'watching topics in' which indicates that the ISDG forum is being visited. Strangely this should be technically off limits to Ginger Ale as he's not on the allowed list.

For now I suggest we dont make a big deal out of it, could be a technical glitch too. I'd like to take Ginger Ale up on his offer to use his account so I can try and figure this out.

I will provide a screenshot of what the forums look like from my side (and will provide any upon request of any forum - except the ISDG one - because I don't have access).

I do not see any C3C ISDG forum here: do you?
@ProPain: Check your PMs to login as me.

So, are you sure that this part of the forum list is where the c3c isdg subforum should be located then?

Ginger_Ale

No, I have no clue where I would find the C3C ISDG forum. If you want, as I told ProPain (and he accepted and I gave it to him), you can try to login as me and try to find it...

Check this out, a second cfc isdg member investigating our forum? That seems an impossibility to me, maybe if Rik could clarify which forum he was viewing at that time, that would lead to a possible solution on what is wrong with the forum/active users?

It is really strange though, if you follow the link the forum says they are watching atm, you do get in our isdg forum. [???]

In case anybody is wondering, guest 2 in the following pic was me..just testing a non member access and how it appears in active users:

And here is the view from the guest perspective:

mind you to get there I had to know the forum ID..off which is only possible if you are a member of CDZ-ISDG.

Can't you also see it from the link in active users then?

digger760

that depends weather non-ISDG members can see if an CDZ-ISDG member is in the ISDG area or not..of which i cannot test unless i create a dummy user which i dont want to do.

The Home page on this site contains links to the ISDG forum (click Home and scroll down a bit).
Non ISDG members and guests can click on this link and surf to the ISDG forum, but as they are not members the 'There Was A Problem' page is displayed.

This can be the cause of the glitch.

I am moderator of the DemoGames (including ISDG) for CFC.
I was checking what the situation around CFC ISDG member Ginger_Ale and CDZ secure forum was; not to spy, but to examine what Ginger_Ale did.

I am so happy my name turned up in the same situation as Ginger_Ale's as I am now 100% sure this is a bug on the CDZ forum and not a spy attempt.

Play on !!

I was really really hoping it was this. I have (after deleting cookies from my browser) forgot myself and tried to look at isdg forum before, and got the problem message - so we all know that part works.

Never pulled this up to accuse anyone of cheating, but rather to fix security issues, if there were any. I have reason to believe the young one is a trustworthy fellow, but this was too strange to let go of.

PP or Dan, have you found out what happened?

Thanks Rik, thanks for clearing this situation up. :) Next time anyone sees this, please post here right away when you see it so I can try to identify what forum I was in that caused it.

Active Topics doesn't always behave in the way you would expect.

When we first made the ISDG forum it was visible but only allowed members to enter. Unfortunatly Active Topics still showed the topic names to people without permission to view it, so we had to make the forum completely invisible to non-members.

Because of this, if anyone clicks on a link to the hidden forum they will be refused access, but they will still appear in Active Users...

As far as I'm concerned the whole subject can be closed. It's the way the active users screen is programmed and as long as the limited access to the concerned fora is actually working, as it seems to be, I can live with that.
