It might be easier to coordinate our efforts if we can discuss everything together rather than having separate email conversations so I created a thread here.

[crazyeye]Wow, very hot avatar Dell19. Sorry, but now i can't think about our game.:D
Short explanation: Dnaturfoto & Detlef Richter are the same people.
It's a very good idea, we can put some pics in here.

I don't actually have a current save to look at the map since I saved over the file I received but next turn I will be able to give a better insight. Romania is going to be difficult to take because defenders have a huge advantage and I'm not even sure I will be able to take Antivari even though I have a huge stack around it. One possible option is that I will move the stack inland and take the next city which may be lightly defended whilst his troops won't be able to retreat immediately.

Thats perhaps a possibility. I think with enough artillery no defender can stay long.

So is this password protected...

Anyways, I am going to launch my first major offensive along the eastern front into Eastern Rumainia and cut it off from Russia.

I don't have enough artillary at the moment and the ships that I was using for bombardment are likely to have a major naval confrontation next turn. I should have plenty of new units though next turn.

No but it says spoiler at the top and I don't think any of the opposition posts here.

A poor question, can the enemy see my floating mines?

This sceanrio sounds interesting..where did you get it from?

Dnaturfoto

It's from civfanatics download-forum. Called 'tgw 2.1' and 'TGW-DIV multiplayer 1.0'.

ah yes i have seen that sceanrio....i thought you were playing a WW2 scenario (see thread title) and I had not seen a WW2 sceanrio with such detail.

It's only a typing failure.

Fortunately the Russiands didn't understand how easy it would have been to keep those cities if they had committed a few defensive units to each city... All of them have been recaptured and it seems a large amount of cossacks may also have been wiped out as surely he would have taken more cities if he had the chance... Antivari will be isolated as I do not believe it is worthwhile to attack it since it is on a hill.

Good to hear Dell19.

I decided to go against Salonika and Bucharest.

If Austria can go against Crajova, we went into a good position.

I just wanted to let both of you know the following...

Kerensky's Corps was defeated!!!

Lastly, the following cities should have roughly this number of troops:
12-14 units in Belgrade
10 units in Antivari
5 units in Crajova
4 units in Bucharest

I strongly urge both of you to attack Crajova and Bucharest in your next turn and at least use some calvary to cut off the railroad just east of Crajova.

Just wanted you guys to know Russian troop numbers...Congrats on taking back your cities...

What about your tech's? My search rate is miserable, because i try to own as much cash as possible. Perhaps we can trade some techs.

Dell19

BK is that before the Russian assault where Russia has 12-14 units in Belgrade as that city has an annoying culture border with my city so if there were less troops I would be tempted to go after that city instead. Not sure what I can send against Crajova or Bucharest since there isn't a road tile. I could send a reasonable stack there but it will be a turn or two behind and by that time Russia could redeploy their troops. I'll see if I can send you any techs.

My advice is to avoid hill cities if you don't have a huge amount of artillary.

BkGreatWarnut
23-09-2004, 23:10
That was at the end of my turn...before their attack.

Just use your own intelligience agency, plant a spy and investigate any cities that you are planning on attacking before the attack so you at least have an idea of the number of troops you have to degfeat, and even what kind...machine gunners in the hills would be tough...of course if there is a lot of calvary then an attack is a no brainer.

Okay I'll have a look at Belgrade, although the problem is that he can always move units around whilst I am stuck with my troops outside the city...

Dnaturfoto
24-09-2004, 13:56
Thats also my problem, i have only one move units and he can see me 2 turns befor the attack.

Dnaturfoto

Another question, is Salonika Neutral or English?

Dell19
24-09-2004, 15:13
:) This is silly. I don't know why the English and neutral nations have to use the same colour. I think it is English but I'm not sure. Check the list of cities that belong to England.

Oddly Russia seems to be willing to pull out of the Balkans although I'm not sure if it is worthwhile since units kill now are units that we won't have to face later on.

Dnaturfoto
24-09-2004, 15:29
Uhhh, so i understand this right, he gives us his citys without defending it? I was unshure about his post, because of my bad english.
This could mean two things, he's down and runs out of units, or he try a sneaking strategy. Have you ever played with him?

Check my post in CivFanatics forum...

Russia has quite a lot of units stuck south of Sibiu so it seems he is trying to evacuate some units. I have moved a reasonably large stack towards Belgrade as it is also in range of my cavalry and 3 extra artillary pieces that I used to bombard the Italian navy this turn.

Dell19
26-09-2004, 12:40
The attack didn't look like going well so I called it off early on. Not sure whether to retreat again or to go on a full offensive on the next turn. The problem is that I seem to lack enough units with good offensive stats and 3 units that would be useful in an offensive including one of my corps couldn't be used because they had been bombarded. Moved more artillary not sure whether to attack or retreat.

Dnaturfoto

I have the same problems. No really good attacking unit for the Ottomans. My only chance is tons of artillery.
Can one of you sell me an Pre-Dreadnough and some new techs?
I tested the russians. I placed 1 Infantry 1 S of Bucharest and the Russians didn't attack.

Dell19
28-09-2004, 16:28
I have no techs to sell. Basically going to start concentrating on simply defending since I can no longer see any offensive benefit after all my infantry lost health which left me with potentially 9 units to attack with and I would also be attacking an army.

Dell19
28-09-2004, 19:15
Also what is everyone researching? I'm currently going for siege artillary so that I can at least bombard from range rather than having to move everything in one huge stack.

Dell19
01-10-2004, 18:39
Anyone? I have no idea how Russia has managed to create such a huge artillary stack but judging from the results he must have at least 30 and they all have range 2...
