I'm going to Australia. Any tips?

I'm finaly certain that I will go to Australia for 4 weeks in September. We have a ticket that will drop us off in Sydney at September 5th and pick us up in Cairns at October 3rd. The rest has to be filled in. We have a good idea what we want to do and we definately want to see the Great Barrier Reef and the outback. We are interested in nature, culture, adventure... (but we will also visit a few cities).

Fly Amsterdam - Sydney
week 1 - 4, travelling Sydney to Cairns: the east coast run!
week 5, diving somewhere around Cairns
Fly Cairns - Syndey and Sydney - Tokyo
week 6, 3 days Tokyo
Fly Tokyo - Amsterdam
