The Hittites founded their cap on the spot next to some mjammie [groucho] spices and were gifted a volunteer warrior. The friendly guy is mapping Hittite homesoil while a curragh is under construction to explore the neighbourhood. Hittite government is pretty confident a settler for a 2nd city can be build on the mark prior to construction of some high-tech stuff for storing grain.

It is very interesting for me to see what choices you all made with that first city. What is your current research path?

Turn 31:

Aggie put a lot of time in this map so here is an update. First of all: the pace of the game is quite good for an 8-player game. The pic tells a lot how the game is progressing. The Farmers grow fastest, three non-Farmers who settled on the spot and went for a settler at size 3 are the second group and finally there is akots who told me he settled on one of the luxes losing a turn and Banzai who told me he went for Pott. and build a Gran in the cap. He'll pick up soon I guess.

Counterclockwise from the Hittites:
- Krys (fucking Dromons nearby but krys is reluctant to have an early GA as learned in our PBEM although he learned the effects of coastal bombardment the hard way)
- anar
- Eldakkar
- Most likely Arghis

Clockwise (learned by intel):
- Banzai
- Kemal
- Most likely akots

Current plans are settling, contacting everybody and evaluate the surrounding islands of which there are plenty. Finding partners might also be a good idea. Techpath undisclosed here but those interested will surely get a reply on PM inquiry. ;) I really trust everybody but it avoids fuzz if there is an accidental misclick.

Finally: I'm glad the Vikes ar far away!

Noone ever misclicks...err...hm...oops...

with that kind of build, you will have 8-10 cities on that land?

Beam

It will be a little more dense than city-tile-tile-city but just where needed. The surrounding islands look promising as well with luxes and most likely also critical resources. So settling those is needed imo. :)

It indeed looks like this game is progressing very well. Nice to see that.

Why did you irrigate the BG NW of Urk?

Pastorius

That is indeed a good question. Unless Beam has created an optical illusion on that tile. Or perhaps his phasers have made a greyish hole in the center of the tile [crazyeyes]

Because I pressed the wrong button. :( Sad but true.

Turn 43:

Brief update and current minimap.

Although it is pretty quiet on the spoiler front I am pretty sure many diplo talks have happened and still are happening. All have contact with each other and it was amazing to see how fast Writing got distributed. To give a little hint: I didn't research it myself. ;)

Anar looks best positioned to win the Philorun and afaik he is the only one going for it but I don't know everybodies techplan atm. Anar also PM'ed me that he will have IW soon and since I can't imagine he will choose IW as free tech he must have a partner.

Talking about partners: found 2 good ones and things are running smooth. :)

2 cities atm, one settler is just completed, another one next turn in the upcoming settler fac. There are a couple of nice adjacent islands so settling won't be limited to the core island.

Update time soon?

Turn 66:

Game has been slow for a long time but is speeding up. :)

The world as it is known:

With various peacedeals with all but the most remote 2 players (akots and arghis) i'm playing this as some sort of farmer gambit. 4 turn settler fac in place. Main issue is the lack of workers but that's gonna change soon:

Finally Civscore, at this stage still an expansion indicator:

No surprise the Agri civs are leading, compared to the non-Agri's the Hittites are doing pretty well. akots settled on a lux which explains his higher score, Banzai and me have been close for a long time, depends on new cities. Running slowly away from krys and arghis has been the backmarker for a long time now.

We already saw the first war: Kemal invaded akots and destroyed one of his cities!

Policy is expand, expand, expand. Tech situation:
- Researching CB.
- CoL, Phil, MM.
- WC, HBR, Math is available and secured as part of deals.

Turn 73:

As said in the open thread turnaround time is about 2 days now! :)

Map. Just one settling slot left in the core. No priority atm, the Ivory W and the Gems SE are. [evil] Made a deal with the Portugese how to split the 6 islands on the outside, we have a lux deal as well. :)

Minimap. Bit hard to see that a couple of competitors are already settling outside the core. At least the Agries and Portugal have done so.

Civscore and demographics. Akots is overtaken, the early war between him and kemal is leaving its marks. ;) 5th in pop and 4th in landarea is ok, as all agri civs will be ahead and I assume Portugal to be 4th in pop. 5th in Mfg, 3th is possible with some reshuffling of tiles.

Victory screen. Kemal has double my pop! [scared] Together we have 29% which leaves 71% for the other 6 players. anar and Eldakkar can't be far behind say have 35% combined which leaves 36% for the rest. No one has build any culture. Very barbaric Swimming Pool. [viking]

Techs. Goes as planned. Researching IW, ready in 6.

Gossip. First talks about targeting other players are happening, many peacedeals end in turn 100. 101 will be interesting.

Hey, why the viking helmet when you re talking barbarians? [rant]

We gave the world cool stuff like longships and berserkergang, if that isnt culture, then I ll have to ask Thor to smite you with his hammer [hammer]
