I have been investing 10k for one season and finaly got someone worthy of not firing:

Adriaan Dalhuizen (34775447)
18 years, passable form, healthy
A pleasant guy who is tranquil and dishonest.
Has disastrous experience and wretched leadership abilities.

Nationality: Nederland
Assessed value: 64 000 €
Wage: 820 €/week
Owner: Aristocats

Stamina: weak Goaltending: disastrous
Playmaking: inadequate:D Passing: weak
Winger: solid :D Defending: weak
Scoring: wretched Set Pieces: poor

Career Goals: 0
Career Hattricks: 0

Cup goals this season: 0

It restores my fate in the system a bit and I want to invest 20k now as soon as I can manage it!

So what do the others here think of the youthsquad?

It's an ok YP!

I invested 20k from the moment i started and it's on excellent now. I have to keep it @ 20k in order to maintain that level.
With 10k you can't get past solid. It takes like 16 weeks to get from solid to excellent.

Shabbaman
29-06-2004, 19:07
Yeah, it's a real pity. I could've used the money... but I can use him as a winger or wingback back up. After several weeks of drafting utter crap this is a relieve.

I like the youth squad. Invested the max in it as soon as I could and I'm almost on excellent. Already pulled a few good players from it that I've either sold or trained.

I find the best way to think about the youth system is expect to pull crap each week. Most weeks you do but then just when you've almost lost faith in it I always tend to pull a decent player.

I think I've been fairly luck in my pulls but I wouldn't expect to pull many decent players till you get to excellent level and even then only occasionally. Imo it definately pays for itself over the course of a season in sellable players or kept trainees.

I got this one last sunday, and due to some injuries and suspensions I could use him immediately:

Shabbaman
08-07-2004, 08:01
He got sold for 17 000 €. I had expected a bit more, but I'm not complaining.
I guess that for a real good trainee his playmaking is too low. Or it could have something to do with the poor performance of the transfer market server, and the limitation of the number of transfer searches one can do.
He got bought by a newbie, I sure hope he's going to train him but I doubt it.
I've been investing 20k for 9 weeks now, I can't wait till it rises to excellent. I sure could use more of these pulls (especially those 17 y.o. with solid scoring, since I need more trainees).

yndy

Two of my trainees are from my own school, good pulls sure help you save money purchasing trainees. My school is also close to excellent but no fabulous players so far. On of my Romanian friends got very lucky pulls last week. Solid defender with some passing sold for 1.2 million €.

My wife also got a youngster she sold for 700k €. Their school is also solid waiting to get excellent. I'm patiently waiting my turn and so should you.

yndy
12-10-2004, 21:26
Amazingly it was sold for 1.7 million Euro!

Since I don't want to promote this season and my trainees are as good as I need, I will not do anything for now (maybe hire some economists) but I will keep an eye out for cheap midfielders or even cheap young forwards.

Cruise
12-10-2004, 21:37
Why not sell your oldest trainee and get a youngster instead? With 1.7M yu can buy an 18yr old formi/outstanding!
Having the money sitting there is a waste. In 6 weeks that trainee will be worth 600k more! Economists can't do that.

yndy
12-10-2004, 21:48
All my trainees will be worth 600k more although it will take 8-9 weeks for the older ones.

On one side I really want to be able to take advantage of cheap buys if I spot them and on the other I'm considering switching training all together in 1.5 seasons so no use in replacing my old folks with younger ones.

Thirdly I'm afraid that prices will drop AGAIN at the middle of the season. All the players that I have bought last season are now cheaper.

Agreeability

Therefore the sympathetic one.

A popular guy with solid leadership is a "real" clown and a sympathetic one with solid leadership is a half clown.

So, this means I can keep both? What's the difference between half-clown and real clown?

Shabbaman

Sure you can keep both, but you have only 1 team leader. Since the new guy sucks you could just as well get rid of him.

Kemal
06-12-2004, 09:27
Better not keep both I think, the team will only have one clown in action at a given time, that being the one with the strongest leadership, and it is impossible to tell which of your two players has the highest solid leadership of the two.

The better the clown's agreeability, the more help he is in keeping the TS up I suppose, so I'd suggest you keep your sympathetic one for now, until perhaps someday a popular solid guy becomes available.

Btw, my youthpull was a pleasant/solid guy as well, and brought back memories from my first ever pull, he was that bad:

I suppose on average he'd have no effect, since "pleasant" is precisely between the positive and negative agreeabilities, maybe that means an agreeability of (on average) 0.

But, I've got no data whatsoever to support my conclusions, so this could be total nonsense of course. :)

I have a half clown since a long time but didn’t really see the benefit over the team. I also guess the pleasant/solid player would have no effect over the team spirit.

It’s my third week of trying to replace my original keeper (now substitute) with a new one from the youth pool. This time I succeeded.

Oke,

Am I missing something here?

Why is this guy so expensive? Or is the owner plain mad?

Due to my recent run of bad luck with forward injuries, this guy makes it straight into the 1st team today.

Wow, decent pulls people, congrats. So far I've never pulled anything that was worth even a measly 1k... my average yp's tsi is about 40 I guess. [lol]

Selling isn't that profitable anyway now, the transfermarket is really weak atm.

@PP: a MF solid GK!

All in all, I've been quite lucky with the ys. IIRC I've got four or five decent pulls so far [groucho]

Hmm, I pulled a weak keeper this time, fired him instantly

I pulled a poor keeper, but that was after four consecutive passable-solid youth pulls, so I'm still impressed with my YS.
