Spolier for the 3rd game between Erikk and me. Map by Killer, he told us he put some challenges in.

Erikk plays the Ruskies, while I play the Celts. Here is a pic of turn 18. I think I found the capital of the first challenge and am pretty sure that these friendly Indians are on a bottleneck.

Researching Iron Working and considering an early first strike on the Iroqs. It is either an early GA or hordes of MWs.

Turn 75 update. Was able to sustain expansion and have 13 cities, 17 warriors, 10 workers, 1 Gallic Sw. and a curragh now. Met 5 AI, Otto's and Erikk to go.

The 3 blue cities are Korean but I found German borders between Greek and Korean cities. The Greek are on the bottleneck and Athens is literally the bottleneck itself.

F3 shows that both Greeks and Germans have lost a worker to Russia, this means that Erikk is somewhere N of Greece / Germany. Erikk told me already he was at war with 2 AI and he did not sound very happy.

One turn in the MA, only Greeks and Koreans are ahead because of their Sci. ability. Germans lack Construction. They have shit to pay for it and I do not want Erikk to be able to trade for it. Researching Rep. at min in the meantime, saving cash for upgrades. I told Erikk to watch out for barbs last turn and again he wasn't to happy. ;)

Until 6-7 turns ago all cities have been on a warrior/worker/settler routine and it is only now that cities are growing. This is reflected in the Civ score where the Celts are climbing rapidly now. :)

Finally F11, I have not been analyzing it every turn, the current stats look fine however, specially the ones that matter: MFG, GNP and Prod. Also nice to see the Celts are 3rd in land area with only one temple build.

Current plan is simple: get the Iroqs out before they have pikes. I've been pondering a while wether or not to build barracks in cities before building GS but finally decided that it would slow the build-up. Instead 2 barracks are build, veteran GS will be rushed there by deforesting and the whip. Only one or two warriors will be upgraded before the attack, just because it is fucking expensive to upgrade to GS.

Another issue is timing of the GA. At min. Rep. is 42 turns away, at max. 32 turns, losing 14 gpt. If I wait that long with the Iroq invasion there is a very high prob they will invade me and trigger the GA before Rep. anyway so I have to live with a GA under Desp. At least there will be +13 cities enjoying it and preparations for Rep. (temples, marketplaces) can be made while in GA.

Turn 88:

Erikk got a Scout thru and met me 2 turns ago. At that time he was Lit and Constr. behind. Next turn he made the deal for Rep. with the Germans I had been preparing for a couple of turns :(. And took advantage of his Sci ability. Although not so good for the Celts it is good for the game as Erikk was really suffering from a combined Greek / German attack.

The Celts meantime are "scouting" Iroq territory with 16 Gallic Swordsman. Everything goes according to plan and Salamance with Zeus is the next main target.

We just made the Century and I offered peace to the Iroqs a couple of turns ago. They have one city left and I don't know where it is. The peace treaty gave Rep and Eng for free, the Germans were very happy to give Mono for Iron, lux and 350 gold iirc. Feu not for sale but within reach.

Although the RNG was pretty neutral at best the sheer number of GS were needed to do the job although only one MW was spotted. The RNG was very graceful with MilLeaders this campaign, 2 in total. [dance] One vs. the Iroqs of course, the other vs. the Koreans who decided to attack for some reason. They are far away and an easy job to stop 'm. The first ML was used for an Army, victorious so the Army road is open. The other one for the FP which is in a new city SE of Salamanca. Since the Iroqs were not very impressive in Culture I decided to take the risk and keep most Iroq cities, see what happens.

Still both Desp and GA. And [ponder] [ponder] what to do next. Infra needs to be build, Rep. is needed but there is that gem called Athens as well, if it was just for the Great Library being there.

I know Erikk is adjacent to the Greeks and he might plan a run on TGL while I have a healed set of GS plus an Army. Athens is on hills but the embassy shows it is defended by 4 Hoplites. Most of the stack + the army will be needed to make it a sure bet and it will be hard to get a settler there and resettle. Fttb there is an RoP with the Maya which normally reduces the chance of an AI attack iirc and it allows the stack to move into Greece pretty fast.

The only issue left is when to revolt, now and enjoying GA under Rep. for say 6 turns and be stuck with WW vs. the greeks OR wait until there is peace with Greece and the GA is over.

I would usually wait for the GA to end, having 5 or 6 turns (or more) anarchy is a real bummer in your GA...

Turn 110:

Just came out of anarchy into Rep. Map of the world near to the Celts:

The stack is going for Sparta > Athens where all the wonders are. It is a gamble, worst case is the stack is lost but that helps with upkeep under Rep. Best case is capturing Athens and keep it 1 turn for TGL and get 3 techs, disband and resettle.
