quote:7000 spectators arrived at Aleseley United Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Aleseley tactics involved an interesting 4-4-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: MacKnight - MacOmish, Brayley, MacNamell, Coshutt - Butt, Greco, Cain, Longhurst - Burgass, Purkiss.
Toffees tactics involved an interesting 3-5-2 combination. The following players had been chosen: MacFadyen - Russell, Williams, Irons - Attah-Agyeman, Homer, Haynes, Walker, Penn - Hollenstein, Aertse.
Toffees seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Toffees took the lead in the games 26:th minute with 0 - 1 after some elegant plays down the middle. David Russell was the scorer. In a rapid move, Pierre-André Hollenstein of Toffees lost his man, passed the ball to the unmarked Puck Aertse who easily hit it home for the 0-2 goal. Barnett Walker increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 0 - 3. The structure of the game started to change as Toffees decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. The visitors Brandon Irons took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and central backs in the 35:th minute. 0 - 4 for Toffees. 38 minutes into the game Aleseley broke through on the left wing and Bernard Burgass managed to reduce the lead to 1 - 4. Some fine manouvering on the left lead to an 41st minute Toffees goal, making it 1 - 5. Puck Aertse was noted down as the scorer. In the 41st minute Toffeess Pierre-André Hollenstein received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. 1 - 5 was the half-time score. Toffees held the ball, with a clear 66 percent possession rate.
After 52 minutes of game time Pierre-André Hollenstein received an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Rory MacKnight was in the right place, tipping the ball to a corner. Puck Aertse increased the visitors lead by putting a volley shot away on a pass from the right. 1 - 6. By then Puck Aertse was a three time scorer - a hat trick! Aleseleys Jeffrey MacNamell got himself booked after a foul. Colin Cain had a good opportunity to reduce in the 66:th minute but wasn´t cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. Toffees´s David Russell received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 79:th minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 1 - 7. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. Toffees held the ball, with a clear 70 percent possession rate.
Aleseley´s best player was Jeffrey MacNamell. Neil Coshutt was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Toffees player was without a doubt Kirk Haynes. Jason MacFadyen on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 1 - 7.
