We've started a game, just for fun. It's the Age of Discovery scenario, I'm the english and herr Mallison is the spanish. We've agreed on no offensive wars in Europe, since that's too easy.

My tactic, I guess: I'm going to settle near New Orleans and aim to wipe out everything between southern US and Surinam. Build a lot of Sea Dogs and get as much victory points asap. I expect killer to raze half of Europe anyway, so I'm preparing for that.

So far, we're on turn 2, and that's in 2 weeks... We're speeding up a bit though.

Dude, if he takes Europe, you will be fucked! It will take many turns b4 you will get the treasures from America... By that time he will rule the seas AND the tech ladder.

ps:
I love this scenario in single player! :)

Yeah I know, but I can't help it anyway atm. War in Europe screws this whole scenario anyway, and we're playing this for fun, not for profit. If he wants to burn Europe, it's his call, but it's not my intention. I *do* want to raze Edinbourgh though, I don't want any pink in my territory.

Turn 28: No, this game didn't die a silent dead!

Somehow, Killer captured the aztec capital on turn 3 or so. How, I really don't know. I guess he started the game with a stack of conquistadores. It does mean that I'm fucked though.

Back on the war in Europe topic: we agreed on "defensive wars only". That's worth completely nothing, so we agreed on "razing only and no resettling".

Turn 35: 2 conquistadores suddenly captured Jamestown, killing a knight and a pike. My total force consists of 2 knights and a bunch of pikes, so that's pretty hopeless. I was wondering how killer was able to do this, so I checked the editor. Aside from a single conquistador, Spain doesn't start with significantly more units. That single conquistador must have toggled his golden age though.
Anyway, I called it quits. With the two conquistadores Killer could easily capture all my colonies, and without the colonial capital I almost finished the colonies are pretty improductive. And the cities in Europe aren't that good either. To less luxuries.

Another thing I noticed in the editor, and in the game, is the lack of iroquis. In the SP games I played on this map they were there...

How is scanario to play? I've still only played RoR.

hehe, thanx for the game, shabba!

what i did was simple: I shipped my troops over and was very lucky with my fights: I needed onyl 1 Med Inf to take Tenochtitlan!

Then, I just kept producing Conquistadors and shipping them west! I had all in all 7 aorund your places... as well as two elite Knights (from the few barbs I met).

I think it's a must play on a lonely afternoon. The dutch are a challenge, but you can play Portugal with two fingers up your nose and your hands tied behind your back. Then the only challenge is putting your fingers in your nose.
From a "recreating history" perspective, nearly all conquests are nice. If you played RoR, try Fall of Rome with the Huns. Chop chop.

About what? That you captured the aztec capital with 1 hp left?

yeah, that I lucked out on attacking it, hardly losing a HP. Form round to round......
