Fighting an early war without iron

What's the best strat to fight a war against an opponent that doesn't have iron either. Horses? Archers? Mixed?
(Very early war, best units would be swordsmen. Horsemen, archers and spears are available to both sides).
Should i build catapults? They don't seem to be really effective.

Cats suck.

use surprise attacks by large stacks. Use the fast travel of horses. preotect them well with spears. have 2 or 3 archers in the stack for defensive bombards :P

A stack of horsies is my preferred method even with iron. Vets and elites usually retreat when they lose and can be allowed to mend before rejoining the fray. Their speed protects them and they will get first hit in most melees.
