View Full Version : An elephant sitting on the wire to CDZ?
Since CDZ moved domain, I get time-outs (or very slow load respectively), error messages or simply just this one...

... pretty frequently.:(
Is it just me and my ancient browser?
Server crashs?
New forum features (possibly adding/changing code while browsing or something like that) cause trouble?
Does the CIA sabotage the CDZ conspiracy?
Strange you have that Grille, most of us had that the first 2 weeks but things improved a lot lately, at least for me. I have to admit I had a few slower downloads today but in general performance was pretty goof for me.
I'm curious how performance is for the rest of CDZ members. Please post whether it's dodgy for you or not.
It isn't terrible like in the first few days after the move. But today at some points it was a bit slow. However, CFC was slower [:p]
Btw, I took the pic at 20:45 GMT or so. Could access CDZ a while later, but load was still slow.
It's at light speed now.:)
Maybe I'm just unlucky and log on at times when some freaking viruses make the lines/servers busy with their evil mail duty (mydoom should be more or less history now, though).
I've been finding the forum inaccessible on and off over the last couple of days. I havent been able to get in this morning until about 5 mins ago.

PP is correct, the performance is indeed pretty 'goof' ;)

I don't see any change with before the domain change. The connection just sucks most of the time [:o]
It's ver slow, but then so it's my home connection.
Hmm. This sums it up:

Extensive research has shown that ...
sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
We are going to upgrade to load-balanced servers, which (should!) eliminate a lot of the downtimes/slowness.
If you noticed the forum downtime today it was because we have ow upgraded to load-balanced servers. This is a big upgrade for the site and should mean there is almost no downtime or extremely slow server responses.
Please note any further problems in this thread, even if they are just the fora being a little slow. It will be interesting to see what the service is like now...
Works very fine now!
but fyi, I just got this one:
Active Server Pages error 'ASP 0115'
Unexpected error
/forum/post_info.asp
A trappable error (C0000005) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running.

Reading that this page was generated in 1,95, 1,64 and 1,78 seconds took 1,94 seconds to generate [crazyeye]
So that means Anarr and Propain chased away the elephant [goodjob]
I have to say performance has been really good for me lately. Lately being at least since june, maybe even longer, can't really remember. So I had the impression that server load balancing was kicking in. I'd like to know how others experience the site speed
My experience: Nothing wrong with the speed :)
It is usually OK (1.5-3.5 seconds). Unless there are 3-4 megs of pics on a page. :)
There are some occasional glitches sometimes but they come and go, not a big deal. Apparently, it is not because of the CDZ or browser but just because of heavy traffic over poor jammed lines. I'm using IE 5 at work and IE 6 at home.
