Regardless of the technology used, is there a demand for a chat room to be set up?

It wouldn't be too hard, and could be a useful alternative to msm for ISDG chats, or just general 'hanging out'.

Let me know if you think you would use it or not.

I don't know. MSM is fine by me. I don't see immediate benefits of a chatroom.

Nah, no chat rooms.

Hmm...

You want to kill all the productive time left to me as well, wouldn't you?

OTOH, like the ISDG chat, that would be good in a chat room. My version of trillian doesn't fully support multiple users, so I had to install MSM just for that. And I could envision that some people can't run MSM at work/other places. Like when I'm at a friend's place, I'm not going to log in on his MSM.

Conclusion: I dunno. Maybe. Maybe not.

I think it can be web-based (java), so no special software would be required.

Some people don't use msm and I thought this may be a good alternative for the IDSG or maybe for people in SG's, etc.

I am happy with Trillian, besides a chat room would mean another media to keep an eye on.

No!

I would never get any work done[sad]

EDIT: unless you can ban me from accessing it from my work IP address[drunk]

If we do use a chat room I already have a server and a channel set up...

I like the idea and would use it. I hate MSN anyway

Ah yes, the chatroom is also used quite a lot for the current MSDG and possibly the future ISDG will use it...

If u do, and you put it on irc or something - please have it on the same server as the civfanatics chat, so I dont have to change servers ;)

I like the idea of a web-based chatroom feature.
The trouble is, I think I'm almost as silent as a fish.

Having said that, I would be happy to listen to PP's endless pripple-prapple...[:p]:)

Or maybe something like ventrillo or teamspeak2 with actual talking [:p]
