[crazyeye]
Don't ask OK ? Just don't ask !

Here is my start :

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Skyfish/2004121103625_SidPBEM.jpg

More details later !

Beam
21-01-2004, 10:56
Looking good sky! Everything you always wanted but were afraid to ask for. U are going to mine those cows? ;)

Skyfish
21-01-2004, 11:05
Well it s actually an interesting point here (on a serious note) :
what would you do with those cows Beam (or anyone else) ?

Aggie
21-01-2004, 11:23
I would at least irrigate one of them. Looks like plenty of shields around...

EDIT: You are not going to show each others start in an open thread? Interesting :)

Skyfish
21-01-2004, 12:25
Yes Aggie I guess what I meant is :
The Agri bonus gives you + 6 food when you mine 1 cow and irrigate the other [cry]
Whats great is that you can work a Forest tile and still make +5food :D
Also the Sugar plain is great because it is in fact a Bonus BG once you mine it.

Excellent start : I hope you received the bribe money safely Aggie ;)

Aggie
21-01-2004, 12:33
No possibility of a 3 turn settler factory then :(

PS. I am able to buy a new car from that money [jump]

Skyfish
21-01-2004, 12:39
Well getting to 7fpt is possible however getting enough shields to produce a settler in 3 turns is impossible right now ;)

anarres
21-01-2004, 13:16
And 7fpt won't allow you to grow 2 sizes in 3 turns, ever. ;)

Surely you want a city using each cattle so you get 2 4-turn settler factories?

Skyfish
22-01-2004, 14:09
Glad you got the humor of the post anarres ;)
Its true though that I typed the wrong smiley, sorry !
I have edited it now :D

anarres
22-01-2004, 14:12
hehe. When you finally see my first 5 cities (in our game) all as 4-turn settler factories you will come to *hate* the Agri trait! [satan]

Skyfish
22-01-2004, 14:27
Time for a quick update as we were able to move along the fast early turns quite fast.

I am very happy with the Map but also my game, those traits are just amazing ! I have to adapt to Agri though and made a few very minor MM mistakes (wrong worker moves)
Based on my map request I am confident I can run a farmers' gambit for a while. I will have 2 settler factories (dont believe I follow anarres' advice) to use both cows. I wanted to first build a few cities before investing in the 2nd granary.
Notice the strange build order of a Pyramids for a Sid level game ! [confused] [crazyeye]
Its a surprise I will tell you more about later [:o)]
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Skyfish/2004122143211_KR-2430bc.jpg

Still no contact at all...but the map could be real interesting and fun. And NO wonder completion yet at this very late date [eek]
Looks like an amazing map ! My scouting warrior went on a crazy isthmus exploration binge !
At first I followed the mountains : I always hop from mountain to mountain (or hill) whenever I can even I think its the end of the isthmus. And I had that though 10 times by now so I am just going on :D
Am just praying this the only land way to my lands, that would be just great !

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Skyfish/2004122142431_KR-2430bcMap.jpg

anarres
22-01-2004, 14:43
We need a minimap!

Plux
22-01-2004, 15:33
Din't you meet any civs yet??? I wonder if there is one to your each, and if so, which it is..

ProPain
22-01-2004, 15:51
nice isthmus. And that bit of land with the 3 grain and wines looks ok too

Skyfish
22-01-2004, 17:42
Remember its a LARGE map Plux ;)
Minimap is totally black anar, nothin there....
Those wheats look really far to me PP [sad]

anarres
22-01-2004, 17:54
Those wheats can be taken with 2 cities distance <= 13. On a large map that really isn't very far.

Also it is really only the rank corruption you need to worry about. Assuming you get about 10-12 cities in your little capital area you are still under 1/2 OCN (was 24 in Civ3/PTW but is now increased), so cities there shouldn't be amazingly corrupt.

Aggie

Palace jump? [mischief]

Palace jump with v1.15 Aggie ? [rolleyes]

Skyfish
24-01-2004, 15:00
We are at turn 50.

Here are a few pictures, I will need to add comments later I have no time right now...

The isthmus went on and its a real one !
I meet the Koreans in 2050, of course they are up all know techs.
Check out this horrible mono price [mad]
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Skyfish/2004124145539_Koreans2150Sid.jpg

Here is F11 at 1950BC :
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Skyfish/2004124145627_F11Sid1950.jpg

And here is the situation just 2 turns before my min sci on Alpha ends,
its going good, next up is max on writing. I have my 2 4-turn settler factories ready...
And trying to use the agri trait to the max by settling on fresh water.
I went for a city by the 3 wheats with early rank, we never know...
I intend to block the ishmus to avoid the Koreans settling my way
but am tryin to meet another civ before...
still dunno what to do here. Except to go on with the farmers gambit :D

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200425125121_Situation1790Sid.jpg

And look at how F11 is getting better, not 7th or 8th in some categories.

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/Skyfish/2004124145956_F11Sid1700.jpg

ERIKK
24-01-2004, 15:05
I see you intend to become a settler/worker powerhouse! [groucho]

Skyfish
26-01-2004, 11:58
Thanks Erik, well the idea is to capitalize on my traits of course. Also I intend to grow quickly and I have not wars planeed for a looooooooong time : all cities not needing acqueducts need to grow as fast as possible thus the granaries.
I know its not your preferred course of action in your PBEMs (early grannies) but it works perfect for me ;)

Skyfish
05-02-2004, 11:23
The empire is growing very rapidly, its a bit too much of a farmers gambit of course but thats the risk I need to take. Things are going really well though.
I have loads of Luxes which is going to help no end in this game.
At the moment it plays like a No-AI game since I only have 1 contact and any deal is impossible.
I am blocking the Koreans and my whole paln is based on them not forcing me out of the isthmus.

I finally researched (at max) Writing in 1200BC (after a min sci on Alpha) and went for CoL to go ASAP for Republic.
On the turn I got Writing I bought RoP from Korea in order to hopefully find somebody else ! I need to get my tech costs down, I have 3 curragh actively looking [cyclops]

Here are some screenies to show you more of the situation...
They have been taken sporadically and not on same turn so there is no logic in them sorry.

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200425105620_KR-FPmessage.jpg

Wow ! The Koreans have neither Philo *or* CoL : this is great news, we are not that far behind [eek]
Notice how the nasty Mayan Warrior is so feared by our neighbor :D

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/2004251107_KR-writing1200.jpg

Please be aware that I have neither IW or the Wheel :D so I dont know what they have...

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/20042511037_KR-Seoul1200.jpg

The "BS screen"(TM) gives refreshing news that we are doing good.

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/20042511138_KR-F11-1150.jpg

The only big disappointment atm is my FP site : I had counted on at least 2 or 3 shields of production but it is already desperately corrupt...:(
I should have know better than to follow anarres' advice :D

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200425112147_KR-FPcity.jpg

Skyfish
05-02-2004, 11:40
Some more great news from year 1075BC :

Eaastern part of my FP lands with a 5th native lux in abundance !

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200425113831_KR-FPlands.jpg

...and finally a second AI in sight [jump]

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/20042511405_KR-Ottoborder.jpg

And a view of my forces in 1025BC :

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200425115027_KR-F3-1025.jpg

anarres
05-02-2004, 12:22
Hey, your FP has rank 14!!!! I seem to remember saying not to go over the OCN for your FP,
and until you build it your OCN is a sucky 20*SidMultiplier (is that 60%?).

If Sid is 60% OCN (Deity is 70%) your effective OCN is currently 12. Building the FP city at rank 14 is a sure way to keep it totally corrupt until the FP is built... ;)

Anyway, you need a leader to build that FP!

Kemal
05-02-2004, 12:31
Excellent BS-data Sky!

Any idea on your longterm approach of this game? I don't know whether you have made any agreements on MA's in this game, but with the amount of lands and luxes you have it might be you won't have to go and conquer one of the AI at all and just continue with the farmer's gambit strategy for now.

Maybe you can build the FP in Tikal? Or are you indeed going to try and get a leader to rush it with? Tackling the Sid-AI armies shouldn't be a great probem to you of course with all the practice I provided you with in the Sid-Sg... ;)

Skyfish
05-02-2004, 12:39
[lol]
Well at least thats one way to get some reaction on my shitty spoilers [rolleyes]

What am curious about anarres is how do you know that the FP city has rank 14 ? [groucho]
It was founded in 5th place and is at distance 13, is there a way to calculate ? How did you do it since you did not know when I founded it ? I have 17 cities right now...

Anyway I got a surprise for you, take a look what happened last turn :D

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200425123937_KR-FPcity2.jpg

Skyfish
05-02-2004, 12:59
Thanks Kemal!

Well I have no real idea about the plan...we have agreed to no-MAs or at least never more than 1 at a time.
Definitely a totally *defensive* strategy, just dig in until Industrial Age when I can start outproducing the AI.
That FP in Bonampak might indeed be a dream, except if I can get a third shield from it... But I am patient.
I get CoL in 8 turns and I could swap the prebuild to Courthouse to get up to 3 (or maybe even 4!) shields and then
go on to FP ...who knows? I would love to use those good lands over there...
But the alternative is indeed Tikal well seen. However I ahve a long term view to this game atm so I prefer Bonampak:D

Skyfish
05-02-2004, 13:31
Here is finally the next civ !

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200425133243_KR-Otto1000.jpg

Note the very small amount of cities, they must be terribly cramped,
I hope war is soon on order for them vs Korea [mwaha]

We are now in turn 80 = 1000BC and KingReno says the AI is just in Middle Age. It s not a blistering pace,
we ahve some chance. KR seems pretty down though, he is already talking about giving up...or its just bluff.
I am sure it is.

Skyfish
07-02-2004, 21:27
Hey nobody's paying attention here because even though I dont have the Wheel and IW I should still be able to see the resources available to Korea ;)
SO...they have neither Iron nor Horses !?!?!?! This is what can allow us to win a Sid game, counting on the AIs missing some essential ressources so you can trade your way back in techs !
This is great news.

And I have even better ones :D

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200427212214_NewContact.jpg

My curragh survived a crossing and I met the Indians [party]
Unbelievably, they were down Code of Laws which I had just researched this turn :D
Also Korea did not have CoL yet so I had a great trading round of course(for Ancient Age Sid level) I could only get Philosophy and CB from Korea for CoL : I want to go for Republic ASAP so I went for Philo instead of another more useful tech.
With the Indians I could trade quite a lot for CoL and Philo : get this they have Construction but lack all post-writing techs [eek]
They must be isolated on their island and had to self research everything. I actually think that the Koreans met them just before me and traded them Writing for Construction [crazyeye]

I am now at 100% research (thanks to my 4 luxes) towards Republic and I have dropped the crazy plan to go for an FP in Bonampak ;)
As soon as I went over the OCN the city lost a shield of course, also I want to use the corrupt cities for Scientists : those babies are my favourite ever !
I am only 25 turns from Rep and no AI has it, Ottos and Korea are in Middle Age now, hoping they are going for Feudalism and Monarchy [lol]

So India is *only* up Construction on me and Korea and Otto are up MapMaking, Currency, Polytheism and Construction !

This game is going great, I just need to see how much cities I can plot before galleys with settlers start arriving :(

anarres
08-02-2004, 03:02
Sorry Sky, but you can't see AI resources in the diplo screen if you don't have the required tech! :D

On another note - why haven't you got Sn00py's installed! [mad]

Skyfish
08-02-2004, 09:22
Because they are fucking ugly !!!!!!!!!!!

Skyfish
08-02-2004, 09:22
About the AI resources, I thought it was like you said but when I later found the Ottos and build an Embassy with them I could see Iron in their Strategic box even though I did not have Iron Working yet [eek] [wallbash] [eek]

I have a save I can show you in case you dont believe me :D

anarres
08-02-2004, 15:33
Looking at their city by building an embassy isn't subject to the same restrictions as trade. You can always see everything in their city...

ProPain
08-02-2004, 17:31
ana is right, embassy shows all resources, diplo only those you have required techs for. Seoul doesn't show iron and horses though. But it really doesn't mean they won't have them could be they didn't connect them yet. I've seen games where the AI didn't connect iron or horses untill the middle age [???]

Skyfish
08-02-2004, 17:57
I know that guys I just did not understand correctly a comment anar made about a comment I made that he did not understand !
[mad]

ProPain
08-02-2004, 18:04
interesting sentence....

Plux
08-02-2004, 23:39
Yeah, could you spell that one out formally please?? ;)

But I love the rest of your spoiler though.

Aggie
09-02-2004, 18:32
I told myself to keep quiet for a while but now it is clear to you too I have to apologize for the huge mistake I made with the luxuries. It would have taken only 5 minutes more to check that and balance it :(

Skyfish
13-02-2004, 23:15
Well the lux problem is a bit too bad but KingReno is beign extremely cooool [coool] about it and very sportsmanlike : he wants to go on even though it s big disadvantage to him...
He's rooting for me to beat the AIs and I promised to give him my excess luxes for free as soon as its possible :D
Its all peace and love [love]
The harshness of Sid level has this soothing effect on even the meanest competitors [blush2]

We are at turn 100 [joker][jump][joker]

The run for Republic is full on ! What is interesting is that none of the AIs have it and I have met one more since last time : those curraghs are really great :D

Here are some useful screenies :
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200421323452_Turn100-original.jpg[br

I am filling up my New Lands ASAP before the AIs settle there ! That lone silk was in the FOW :(
The eagle eyes amongst you might notice something funny on the isthmus....

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/20042132379_Turn100-newland.jpg

Past the Koreans and Ottomans to the North I found the French ! :D
http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200421323103_Turn100-northland.jpg

Following a very long stretch of land south of the Indians, trying to find the 3 civs I still do not know !

Skyfish
15-02-2004, 22:36
Something amazing is about to happen in this game :

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200421522333_NewCiv.jpg
37.85*KB

I met a new civ again : I am missing only the Iros and KingReno now [eek]

But the amazing thing is that *nobody* has The Republic yet !
[:o]

Skyfish
16-02-2004, 09:46
The unbelievable has happened ! [crazyeye]

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200421692425_Repscreen.jpg

But even weirder is that none of the known AIs has Literature, there are also no Great Library being built in F7 [eek]
With a prebuild I could have actually grabbed it [wallbash]
I decide to *not* revolt for a chance at another monopoly trade, also my FP prebuild is ready in 2 turns.

I use the infamous interturn trick to go to F4.
First to Korea to get all their money (and some...) :

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/20042169277_Reptrade1.jpg

Then get into Middle Age thanks to backwards India :

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200421692859_Reptrade2.jpg

Then go to F1 change a prebuild to harbour, refuse anarchy and finally get in the turn.

Go back to F4 and now I can deal my luxes to Ottomans and Korea.
They badly need luxes. Korea has Gems which I dont,
but OTOH I dont want them to get too powerful,
I actually dont *need* Gems right now I am at 0% lux tax... I will wait to try get more out of a Korean lux trade.

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200421693650_Reptrade3.jpg[br

All Middle Age AIs have the same techs, none has Monotheism !
Cant believe they would all beeline for Mil Trad [scared] ?!?!?!?

Egypt and India were obviously isolated for a long time and I am actually ahead of them in techs now :D
They have absolutely nothing interesting for me to deal them The Republic, Egypt still lacks Currency...

I also pass on France who had no money and does not want to pay gpt. I hope the AIs wont deal The Republic to them but i'd rather take the risk then give it out for free [rolleyes]

This game is ON big time now [evil][fdevil][evil]

Aggie
16-02-2004, 10:36
So even on Sid the AI refuses to research Literature? This is in fact bad news :( It is THE preferred route to travel on higher levels it seems.

PS. [goodjob] Sky [party]. I hope you meet KR soon and offer him a few luxes ;)

Skyfish
17-02-2004, 09:53
Two major update :
- the Mayan curragh met an Aztec curragh [love]
Now its difficult decision because of the lux issue I feel I "owe" a bit to KingReno so since this is a special game and its more us vs the AIs then human vs human
so I decided to gift him Writing [eek]
Yes poor sod did not even have Writing in 270bc or something !
After that I offered to get him into the Middle Age for whatever gpt he could muster, he offered 30gpt which I accepted with no bargaining [wallbash]
I am giving him much mroe info then I normally do thru MSM, chatting about the game and stuff,
I think he is really happy he " tricks" me into giving out info (very minor stuff anyway..) [lol]
We can not trade luxes until Navigation I think...[no]

- And secondly on turn 118, the long awaited government was elected, after 6 or 7 turns of anarchy. AS you can see I can research a tech that is known
by only 1 AI in only 13 turns with no deficit (thanks to the money I get from Ottos and Aztecs).
Feudalism is outrageously expensive so I want to trade for it with Mono, the Rep and Engineering.
I have not met the Iros and they are the last unknown civ.

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200421795137_OutofAnar.jpg

And here is an updated Minimap :

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/20042179538_OutofAnar2.jpg

Skyfish
20-02-2004, 13:44
This game is progressing extremely fast and is very exciting.
KingReno is the perfect PBEM opponent to have I must say!

That last turn (149) was a crucial point : I self researched Printing Press (at Max)
and for the 2nd time in the Game got monopoly on a tech.
To make a long story short both my neighbors Korea and Ottomans are
*by far* leading the pack with Korea the runaway AI.
Thats really not cool since they are my neigbors and I want to attack them at one point...

Here take a look at the outrageous price of Sid trades !
Because of that cost the 2fers are almost impossible...

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/2004220132742_280ad-update1.jpg

Banking is only known by Korea of course, but take a look at how much
it cost me to search it without *any* university anywhere.

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/2004220134135_280ad-update2..jpg

With 0% science I make 515gpt, so the difference between trade and
selfreasearh is huge and the latter is definitely the way forward
at sid level which seems a bit crazy [crazyeye]

Any remarks or ideas ?

Skyfish
20-02-2004, 14:02
Oh and Korea having Navigation I finally discoverd KingReno : he is really cramped into his shitty lil island [evil]
He complained a bit about the map (he bought WM as well) but I am not convinced by his arguments.

Here it is :

I am also not convinced. The only thing that really is crooked imho is...well you know.

Skyfish
02-03-2004, 11:31
We are now at the dawn of a new age !

Major choices need to be made... I have made my choice of going the military way with cavs and rails and hurting Korea big time [evil]

They are the top dog : the only AI in front of me in techs and my only land neighbour. The way to beat Sid is to hurt the run away AI
and its only thanks to all the AI wars and notabley Otto-Korea war that they are not Industrial for a long time !

I am building up my Knight forces to be upgraded and skimming workers to prepare for mil. rails.

Now the question is when should I trigger my GA : I am very tempted
to go into GA and mobilization to flood them with Cavs and have my
ToE prebuild sped up by the GA....
or I wait for Indus (after/during a Korean war) to trigger GA and
speed those expansive buildings up, my prod capacity is somewhat limited.

The game looks in the bag, check this out (am not in GA of course) :

Seriously though: awesome stats!!

Skyfish
08-03-2004, 11:26
Apologies to everyone : I worte a huge update on Friday about my progress and the jump into Industrial Age...
but lost everything when the site went down [cry]
I really cant be arsed to write it all again but I hope you can guess from a few pix what more or less happened.
______________________

Here's is "sort of" how it went :
I was just 1 turn away from Magnetism when no-one had it but
the AIs had ToG ! I seriously counting on a 1 for 1 swap to get into
IA wuth both Sci civs in order to be able to trade their free tech
myself instead of them swapping it between them leaving me with no
trade opp.

The plan failed miserably when KR opened the save and told me on the chat that Korea was Industrial :
they had gotten Magnetism just half a turn before me [eek] [wallbash] [mad3] [cry]
At least Ottos were still in Middle Age...

Magnetism at 2nd civ price is still nice to have so I shopped around and
to my delight France could pay almost full price for it so I sell it to them first as I need
teh gpt to sustain my 100% tech run.
Then I exchange it to Ottos for ToG + some gpt : All 3 of us get into Industrial Age.
Korea has Nationalism as free tech and Ottomans Steam Power ! [jump]
This is a major break !

First check out monopoly prices on Sid again :D Note that this is also the gpt I am making
with 0% science and not in GA yet.

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/20043510347_IA-Steamprice.jpg

Now comes the [hammer] : because I am paying a nice gpt to Ottos PLUS I sell them 2 luxes, they are at war
with Korea who is in between us AND I am going to war in a few turns anyway...
I decide to go for the *ultimate* Sid strategy : I immediately steal Steam Power from Ottos for 1500g and...

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200435103739_IA-Steal.jpg

This is the turning point of the game, now there's no stopping the Mayan steamroller...;)

After that I sell Steam to Korea first because they have a huge treasure and I dont want gpt from them as
they are dead meat ina few turns...

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/200435104152_IA-SteamResell.jpg

I hesitated a long time on which strategy to go for at this point and they came down to "When to trigger my Golden Age?"
and "What to build during it?"
After investigating 4 or 5 Korean cities, I see that they are seriously weakened by the centuries long Ottoman war.
So the option of buying/stealing Nationalism, mobilizing, mass=producing cavs is not needed actually.

I use my pile of cash to upgrade 40 or so horses and Knights to Cavs. I also have 20 cannons and 20 muskets :
they are all moved on the Famous Isthmus, ready to strike.
Research is then set to 100% on Industrialization, reachable in 11 turns at +200gpt :D
During those 10 turns, I go on producing tons of Cavs, musks and cannons but the war starts !
The plan is to trigger the GA once Factories can be built and use the GA to get them up fast.
Hopefully by that time Korea will be gassed and cavs wont be needed anymore....

First a little side note to show you another good news that Steam Power brought :

At first it looked like a real frustrating number of shields when you mass-produce Cavs :(

But after a few quick Industrious MM twitches we get the wanted results :D

Once all units were in place ( I ma paying like 150gpt in upkeep at this point...) *and* my military railnet
was up and running the Mayans were asking for blood !
First an ongoing 100gpt deal I had with Korea had to finish, this delayed my plan by a few turns
but I need all the money I can get in this game.
My ambassador visited Wang Kon and kindly asked that the korean Nation pay tribute to the Great Instigator [evil]
The named tribute would take form in the secret of Nationalism that Korea so reluctantly egotistically was holding to!
Wang Kon immediately threw the Mayan ambassador out of his ugly Palace and war was honourably declared [eek]
The Great Instigator then visited all of the other nations in the World and easily bought them into an alliance
against the ugly Kon. This was more to secure the ongoing profitable business deals with various nations rather than
because the Mayans expected any military help.

Here is part of the Mayan Stack of Doom using the Great Mayan geography.

The Korean resistance, as expected, was almost non-existent with all their forces fighting Sipahis in the north of
their lands. However Mayan generals treaded very carefully and planned their progess towards the Korean core with
utmost attention.
Centuries and centuries of careful planning were almost immediately rewarded by the advent of a Military Great Leader,
a definite must for a Cavalry war vs Rifles.

All Elite units were used to make a potent Army which lead the progress through adesignated Path of Mountains towards
the Palace of Wang Kon where the Great Instigator himself and his friend and long time advisor Mr Guillotin would come and show what
Republicans do to Monarchs [mwaha]...

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/2004399749_KoreaPath ofMountains.jpg

As you can see war was going extremely good with only a few stray cavs as casualties and no war weariness.
The Koreans were out of Iron and Coal very soon, Explorers are a *great* unit to use in any war, they can do a
lot of damage to your opponents and are very cheap to build and throw away...

In the same year Taejon was taken, an event that would change the course of history for centuries to come happened !

http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/uploaded/skyfish/20043991635_KoreaPath ofMountains2.jpg

This was a most unexpected and sad moment for the Mayan Republic ! We were providing 2 luxuries to our Gracious friends
and heavily financing their war effort vs the evil Wang Kon. Most amazing was teh fact that they did not make peace with
Korea and kept fighting them on all the time [crazyeye]
A typical example of why an AI will always be beaten even on Sid Meyers' own level of play ;)

After a brief moment of despair the armies of the Great Instigator went back to the job of destroying Korea with even
more rage in their guts and were not concerned at all anymore by the ottoman treason.....
...the reason for that was the most glorious piece of news to ever happen in the whole Mayan Republic, a very long awaited
event could take place helping Factories and Universal Suffrage to come to our land in the quickest way.

Soon after, just as the Great Instigator had promised his industrious citizens,
Wang Kon was slapped in the face and in public :D

SO what's the deal with the otto's? Will they pose a problem or not? They're quite a bit smaller than you and the koreans but at Sid prices that might not be a problem for them. And sipahi are wicked units.

Going very well sky, seems to me the declaration of war by the evil Ottomans isn't going to give any real problems to you at all, I suppose the free war happiness helps you out a little in city happiness, and they probably won't have much of an army left after their long struggle against the Koreans.

Skyfish

Actually the war with Ottos has been hurting me quite a lot you are right PP.
The Sipahis are devastating especially vs my poor muskets :(

Since *all* my core cities are working on Factories, I have no fresh supply of Cavs and I am quickly getting gassed [eek]
However I have secured my part of the continent, the Koreans have no units left and the Ottos send a lot of conscript rifles.
Also a second much needed army was created... :D

Its in GA with Iron Works, Factory and Coal Plant
Will get me any Industrial wonder in 5 turns :D

At one dull point the koreans came to the table with an offer I just could *not* refuse..
I will now concentrate on the Ottomans for a few turns [evil]

Hey ! Wait a second ! Rewind here...
Is that a MapMaker trick or did Firaxis learn of the Flying Fish ? Great Easter egg indeed :D

Sky, the mapmaker did not tweak the leaders ;)

Does KR also have the opportunity of a powerhouse?

Skyfish

What do you mean by "the opportunity of a powerhouse"?
The opp. of becoming one or the opp. of gettting money from one ?

Aggie

I mean: it is interesting to know for the lurkers if KR also has a possible IW city.

Skyfish

Of course the map being beautifully balanced KR also has the same IW city : I sold him Steam not long ago at a huge discount...

Here is an update on the military campaign :
The Orange blight has been wiped off MY continent :D
In 6 turns my huge peace deal with the Purple blight ends and they are next [mwaha]

The cities keep flipping back of course, only the Korean ones cause a problem...
I am building up Galleons to go and definitely destroy Ottos and Koreas.
At that point I will evaluate whats next, probably India and Egypt willget a mayan visit...

Skyfish
13-04-2004, 13:13
Nothing happened really [blush2]

I got control of the whole island, Korea is gone and Ottomans are in clean up mode.
I am now preparing naval invasions of India and Egypt.
After ToE and grabbing AT/Electronics (cant wait for 1.22...) I stopped research and build up some cash with a min run on Radio.
However I need transports and the AIs are just super slow there is no way they can research Combustion in time : i have to go
to max on Radio and then Steel-> Combustion..
