Turn 65 - 69:
(we play this game on straight Demigod [eek])

There is room for one more city and then it will be war against one
of the two neighbours (Russia or Ottomans). I haven't met any other
AI but I might be moving towards a new subcontinent. I was on that
way 20 turns ago (see map) but turned around (thought I had to move
east to meet other civs...), that was stupid as it looks now that
south is the direction to go... Anyway, I have been able to stay on
par in the tech race with my two ai's, so they haven't yet met the
others too. We all still lack Alphabet, I think they are researching
Monarchy.

The great turn 66 wonder cascade
The Sumerians - Pyramids
The Spanish - Zeus
The Persians - Oracle
My Ai's are now both on Temple of Atrimes.

I hope these are Plux' neighbours! [evil] I dont think he will be
able to finish these AI's off quite fast! Spanish with ancient cavs
are difficult I guess, Persians are always difficult if they have
immortals and the Sumerians have strong warriors and are always strong
in SP games... In this game they are #1 too!

So are you gonna take the Russians or Ottomans first?

With you being behind in tech (and the AI both being Scientific) you could be in for a hard time if one of them gets Feudalism before you can take them with horses...

I think Russia does not have iron. Ottomans have iron and horses connected but are weaker in
power than the Russians... I am sandwitched between them so I can choose anytime. We lack
alphabet thus the MA are still far away but I agree that horses versus pikes does not sound that
good. The fact that we dont have curraghs prevented the Russians an easy passgae southwards, I
can still beat them meeting the other civs! [groucho]

I wonder why the other AI's havent moved northwards? (If possible but does very much looks like
possible.) Maybe there is a war going on out there...

When settling in the NE I noticed shoretiles firther NE sdo I rushed
a curragh, now I think I see Plux's colours! [eek] This will mean
that we are very close.

More other (bad) news is that I met the Sumerians who are backwards
and also there was another Russian warrior down there who met them
first and also sold a tech (I think) as the Ruskies suddenly had
gained approx 200 gold. Also my spices city (which was placed very
risky) flipped to the Russians. Last but not least: the Russians
have their iron connected. My target will thus be the Ottomans. I
plan to ally the Russians against them.

Still everything does not go as planned, I have a bad feeling about
the game. I fear being sneak attacked by either the Russians or the
Ottomans... :(

turn 84:

Plux and I did a 2 tech for 2 tech trade. In the same turn I met the
Spanish and got a big benefit out of the trade, trading Poly to them
before Plux could. Now I am ahead of him with Mathematics. I am
ahead in tech of the rest of the AI's. Only the Russians have Monarchy
but lack 3 other techs. They wont trade Monarchy though.

I have 660 gold, this must be enough to upgrade 10 warriors or so. In
that case I will be in time to attack the Ottomans! :)

IIRC the Ruskies (that was randomly chosen in the MP screen) have a horrible jungle start in bad lands no ?

Turn 93:
I got Currency first but no Sci Leader unfortunally. I would really
need it as I declared war on the Otto's (the homnorable way) and plan
the FP in their territory!

I bought the Russians in voor CoL. They (and the Otto;s are still
behind in tech. The Russians need Constr. and the Otto's and
Sumerians 3 techs! These 3 have no contact with the other 4 civs who
live near Plux. I managed to trade lots of techs and gotten rich,
which results in the 20 swords that I have now. The Russians are
paying m2 40 gpt (2 separate deals) pre-MiddleAges! [eek] I have
never seen that before!

I invaded the Otto's with 19 swords, 3 spears and 3 horses. Extra
horses are being build atm. But Immediately 2 Ottoman swords showed
up. The are as big as I am but weak according to the Mil. Advisor.

Turn 94:
The first turn of war was a bad turn: I razed two cities but lost 5
swords and 1 horse against 1 warrior, 2 spears and 2 swords, the next
turn I will be able to kill another swords though... [ponder] No
Russian troops moving to the Otto's seen yet.

I was just about to start complaining about the fact that
I was unable to kill those Ottoman reg swords in one try
until now. While all Ottoman swords were succesfull in
their attack on me...

I will use the leader for the FP near Istanbul. We can then see what
effect the FP has in this PBEM game. Plux and I are both on 1.12 now.

As the Ottomans have 9 cities I think that there are more good lands
in the north so placing the FP near that lake seems to be the best
idea (it is a bit more to the north). Also I think I am not able to
destroy Istanbul soon. Moreover, I wanna capture Istanbul as it has
the Temple of Artemis! That will be an action that will happen at the
end of the campaign thus placing the FP anywhere near Istanbul is out
of the question. The lakespot will have to do.

ps:
Note the Iroquois city between the two Spanish cities on the coast!
His city gets squeezed and it has a harbour. It might be his lux-
trading city. Losing it would suck big time (think about the rep hit
you will suffer). So, he must do something soon! The Spanish own Zeus
and have a good chance in getting the Great Library... But they are
the smallest and weakest civ, defeating them with MW's will be easy I
suppose...

Anyway I am doing quite fine now; expanding in Ottoman lands, getting
the FP soon and running +28 gpt at 100% research - thanks to our
Russian friends who are Gracious at the moment. With already 350 gold
in the banks I might even be able to upgrade some units when the time
(Feudalism) comes!

Last monolpoly trading round nets me The Republic, Engineering and Monotheism for
a total of 150 gold. The next turn the Russians will meet the Byzantines but
after my trade everybody is equal in tech and it's 7 turns till Feudalism for me!
Ottomans and Sumerians (both poor and backwards) do not know the other continent and
the Russians will still have to sail towards Plux, Spain and Persia of course...

Plux is in anarchy and lacks the MA techs. No other wars than mine going on. I still
think he will attack the Spanish soon although he is weak compared to my 72 units.
When in Republic he can get his GA from the MW's.

Some turns ago I sent my scout Curragh back north to check if there are any Iroquois
Galleys near the passage. I saw Plux' other Galley (I suspect it is his upgraded
Curragh) going south. Anyway, it would be wise for him to sent a galley to my
continent for contacts I think...

improvements, with 72 units I probably have enough to complete the destruction of
the Ottomans and with the new lux soon online happiness will improve in my cities.

Another straight loss from a reg sword or archer without taking off any hp from
the enemy. This happens so many times in the AI turn that I suspect it is coded.
Does anybody know? The spear was in woods. Earlier I lost one the same way and

He is underway to St. Petersburg. It has the Great Library. The city is situated on the
landbridge to the Russian mainland. I cannot reach it as my expeditionary force of cavs and the
swordsman army is blocked by Russian units. Plux has almost reached the Russian 'inner sea'
where he will never return as my fleet will block it once he enters... This fleet of privateers
has already sunk 1 galley + cargo. More privateers are being made and if I can sink another
galley before it lands he might not be able to take St. Petersburg! It is a wonder city thus
might have 6 muskets in it...

I will post a pic tonight.

Turn 179:

Yup I love them. Plux landed his troops. The Russians are standing
him in his way too! I decimated his galleys to 2: 4 killed, 3
slaveships won! [groucho] The two ships are stuck in the bay for now.

The Russians were very stupid retreating those troops in front of Plux
also the lost a knight and Medinf against Plux in the inturn. I think
Plux will capture the GreatLib and thus keep the game going. If he
fails he prolly give up...

By the way: the Russians are going to attack the Sumerians the next
turn: they are massing troops towards the northwestern Sumerian town.
The Sumerians and Persians swapped RR and Nat and are both 2 techs up
on me... I will have RR in 3 turns and Plux might have them all the
next turn [sad]

Turn 180

Plux took St. Petersburg so I had a choice to go to world war with
a load of Russians troops in the west and lots of them within my
territory and waste my reputation with my units in Russian territory
(ROP) OR let Plux get up in tech....

I decided to try it and declared war on Russia and Plux and razed St.
Petersburg. Plux was not happy and told me he would now get a hugh
Diplo Vic and also would drop a lot of Medieval Atom bombs on my
cities! ;)

Anyway, the Sumerians were happy to join me against the Russians and
I am in my GA now. The Russians are at war now with 3 civs and only
the Persians are not at war...

Plux had it half a turn. Dunno if he still did get all the techs
(would be a bug IMO)... Anyway, he did not quit te game while he is
more than half an age behind in techs. I really thought he would have
surrendered by now...

Violence in the Mayan Ocean!
More and more Iroquois, Russian and Persian ships disappear in the
middle of the ocean! Yet the Sumerians dare to sail the oceans near
Russia and Mayans! [eek]

No government has been hold responsible for the unsafety of the
seas...

The Sumerains and Mayas are finishing off the Russians now. The
Russian empire is falling quite fast since they lost the saltpetre
with its muskets and Cossacks.

War wairiness is really starting to hurt now... [shabba] I think I
will have to sign peace soon. Lets hope the Sumerains quit their
conquering in the next turns.

- me razing a bunch of Russian cities and resettling on the spot
- the Sumerians taking over the sourthern russian cities
- the scary thought of me having 50+ Sumerian units in my territory
- the Persians declaring war on me out of the blue
- me getting ready for Hoover and ToE [evil]
- the Iroquios (Plux) demanding Astronmy for peace [vormit] (Told him to go to hell!)
- the era of privateers terrorising the seas is almost over (only 3 left)
- 33% war weariness (went down again after the Persians declaring war on me)

I just mobilised. Building only rifles, cavs and cannons at GA + MOB
speed... [evil] Also rushed Smiths with one of the leader. The other
one is for ToE. As you can see I decided to finish the game before
we reach electricity.


The Russians are as good as gone and the Sumerians are Gracious and
have the Persians to do their fighting with... While Plux still has no
Astronomy yet!

hmm...

I rushed Smiths but see now that it isn't there. The ai's are still building it. The leader is
gone... This is a bug that costed me a leader. [rant]

EDIT
The city I build Smith's in was building a rifle. I changed that to
Smiths and then rushed the Leader. At least that is what I remember
doing... I might have had a black out or something and did rush the
rifle but I really think this is a bug. I had two SGL's. I need to
test it again when I have time. Anyway I forgot the rushing until 3
turns later when I read my own spoiler about the rushing! [lol]
I dont what to play all my pre-invasion turns with a lot of troops
movement and other stuff again! [wallbash] This game might soon be
over when I confront Plux with +/- 10 rifles and 15 cavs and 5 canons!

Hmm, when looking at it again, the turn I rushed I mobilised. In the current turn (3 turns
after the rushing) the ai's are still building Smiths but I cant build it! IIRC you can build
wonders while mobilised! So, I cant build it but the ai can! Looks like C3C thinks I have it
but doenst show it in the city screen and also not in the wonder screen making the ai's still
building it????

Seems buggish dont you think?

If you mobilised after rushing (on the same turn), that could explain it...

No, the cities building non-mil keep building those until finished,
from then on it's only mil. Yes the fact that I diud it at the same
time can explain this event.

I think it is a bug, as I am quite sure you can built wonders
while mobilised. The fact that Smiths isn't available in the building
queue is strange.

I don't think you can build wonders under mobilisation anymore in C3C ERIKK. At least that is what I was told...

There are all kinds of problems (bugs & exploits) with Mobibilization in C3C
as we found out in our LotR10 SCouting Sid game for example...
