Was the settler on auto-move? That could explain it...

how, anarres? that it moves away from its auto-move escort, gets killed then?

It is posible I accidently clicked one tile to the south, so it could have been on automove.

But, if one unit is on automove, does it move first? than the barby? and then my warrior on manual move?

That seems like an impossibility to me!

the warrior was on manual?

Like anarres I was thinking automove. If you automoved it seperately from the warrior it will move at the end of YOUR turn, which means before barbs and other civs.

So beware NEVER use automove when going to/through 'hostile' terrain. I only use it when cruising through my own lands.

If it was on automove, it was so by accident.

But this can't be!:quote:Originally posted by ProPain

A dumb Firaxis invention! What are they doing there? A bug creation contest? Has it been reported? (Or maybe been reportde fixed bt Firaxis?

Your settler was on automove and your warrior wasn't: the settler
moves, then the barb kills the settler and then you have the current
situation. But I find it strange that you saw nothing during the end-
turn... Or were you player 1? Player 5 would actually see the drama
taking place... [aargh]

I think that in all my PBEMs, I am player one.....

We are in turn 70. Col's jag warrior(s)have reached my borders. Both of us aren't ready yet for a GA, but we will try force eachother into it.

It is turn 100. I just discovered republic, got a leader and went into anarchy :D .

I did manage to force Col into GA to soon, by attacking his jag warrior on a mountain, with a wounded superhorse, that I kept wounded all the time by letting it move around.

Oh yes, I am such an idiot.

I did hurry a GL (ptw) before going into anarchy. Guess what: A sucky half dead AI, next to COl built it....
I got a harbour instead.....

Lol

Sadly the Carthos dont seem to be thriving. I'm going to have to liberate them soon just to read those books - but I may save the library, now my cores are up and running. Oddly enough the Ottos next to you seem to be doing well.....

Does anyone know what happens if you capture the GL, give it away, then recapture? Do you get each time provided you havent reached education?

Bas : Turn 100. I discover reopublic. I kill a jag warrior. I enter my Golden Age. I kill 3 Scandinavian archers with elite units. Guess what happens with number 3.
I also get into anarchy.... for 1 turn.

You may give up ;)

col :Obviously my situation is hopeless. Only an idiot could fail to win from your position now. .... so I may as well play on a little.

Bas:aaaaaaarghhhhhhh. I am an idiot!
I did hurry the GL, before going into anarchy! Gready me no wanted to waste one turn of anarchy...
I have a harbour instead now.....

And, you will simply conquer the GL.....

I don't think that anarchy is the problem with the TGL. I think that the AI completed it in the turn that you rushed it!

Aggie is right you can Leader rush stuff during anarchy...
Maybe this might change your mind about player 2 annnouncing wonder pop ups ? [groucho}

Well, Col announced it! Just in the turn after I rushed it. So, it doesn't help, I guess......

I was indeed thinking that rushing was possible anyway, just as changing production to something that needs less shields.

In that case, I was just unlucky.......

I've never seen this happen in a Sp game - rush with leader then lose it because the AI builds in mid turn. Stapel was doubly unlucky that the cascade took out the other available wonder.

Maybe next time, he'll rush in a city other than his capital to have the palace as a fall back..... ;)

anarres
22-01-2004, 15:02
Unfortunately it won't pick the palace even if all wonders are taken, it will choose whatever else has the highest shield requirement.

What you can do instead is *if* something in a city completes before the wonder comes up in build order is to cycle through to the city in question and hit the build queue. You can then switch to the Palace pre-build and back again to the wonder. If the wonder has been completed by an AI it will be greyed out and you have saved your shields.

Of course, with a leader-rushed wonder you can't change the build item (at least in the turn before when you rush it), so you have to take your chances. This will only work with hand-built wonders. :(

Stapel
22-01-2004, 15:19
I did do that Anarres, but it was not handbuilt, (and also not in my capitol), and the only logical thing to do was building a harbour.

I was simply fucked in the arse. And that hurts!

I had it too in my game against Aggie, I got a Colleseum instead, that's better than a lousy harbour!

col

Still I expect its a very nice harbour :)

Oh yeah, it has many cheap hookers, so the sailors that come there after a long journey at sea, can have lots of fun.

But it won't really help me winning thsi PBEM......
