Exciting times!

While at home, for I cannot walk or drive a car (new cruciate ligament), I still work now and then.

As a sales rep, I can do quite a lot with my laptop and my cell phone.
Last friday, I had an important meeting with a prospect, so I asked my Collegue Ed, to go.
One of our directors (we have two, a commercial and a techinical one) decided he should go with Ed. I strongly advised him not to do so, but he simply ignored my advice.

After their return, our comm director did send an e-mail, in which he tells that this prospect was told a pricing method by ME. And that I have chosen not to tell him about this.
Before the meeting I have told our comm. dir. VERY CLEARLY, that I did not discuss any pricing at all yet (I was speaking the truth btw).

Though the misunderstanding is quite easy to explain. (this prospect had a (wrong) idea in his head of 2001 pricing), the fact remains that I am accused of hiding info.

Of course, this incident is not the first. I did reply an e-mail, where I say that we are now in an 'unworkable situation'.
I made a phonecall to our other director (I screwed his sister for 8 monts btw), and told him that a good conversation about this does not guarentee a workable solution.

It will probably lead to my resign.....

To be continued!

I still believe leaving over such an incident is too extreme an option...

Its obvious that this Comm director is a power freak who exagerates everything to step on other people : in my experience those people always create their own downfall. You have made your point to your general director now you should hold on , be strong and enjoy the spectacle of that other guy slowly going down the drain... :)

Yeah, don't give up too soon. But I understand from what you write that this isn't the first time, so maybe it is time for action. It's also depending on your contract, legal issues bla bla.

It really depends on the extent you have to cover your ass each time, if it is so bad that you can't drop your pants while taking a leak it is prob. time to reconsider.

Otoh, why resign if you do not already have another job?

Excellent argument. Why not send your 'feelers' around and see if you can get another job, before you decide to let that idiot get to you and resign...?

Well, I won't give up my job without a fair settlement.

Point is: This fella has such an irritating effect on me, that it becomes impossible to do my work. I have not given my best the last months. Every day I encountered this person the last 2 months, either by mail, phonecall or in person, I need 3 or 4 hours to cool down.

Last week, on tuesday, I felt good (which is not always the case, due to my knee). Between 8 and 10:30 I managed to do a lot of work. Then there came 'his' deny e-mail.... Man, that pissed me off!

I didn't do anything the rest of the day.

I do realise it is my nature, not to perform well under these circumstances, but I have never met such an asshole in my working life.

Two of us might be one too many...

I have a job interview next friday in Leiden, btw. First interview.

stapel, fight him hard! Attack him wherever you can - e.g. if you two meet in the corridor, ram your shoulder into him just hard enough to show it was intentional, not by accident. If you two go to the loo at the same time, or toherwise pass through a dorr after another, push forward and do NOT holds the door open for him. etc.

what will this do? essentially, it is to irritate and upset him. that means he will maybe be a bit more cautuious when going after you again.

sky: mind games....

in my experience, if I encounter people like that and think of ways to annoy them, I tend to be way betzter at shrugging them off. sometimes, I actually do stuff like that - if they try to play that game with me they shouldn't be surprised if I play it with them. Made my civil service OK, as the assholes learned to back down from harassing the newbie - the newbie was better at harrassing them after all ;)

I agree with you in general terms but you were suggesting a very "physical" solution, these should be used ONLY with people who already try to physically impress you or use dirty tactics...
I had ppl try to use these tactics on me but I can tell you it dont work at all and its much easier to counter than sneakier, *fishy* tactics (which I am an expert at btw) [lol] [lol]

I quote from his e-mail reaction to me, (my manager and the other director were in the CC.....)

PS ik hoop ook dat het met je knie en tussen je oren snel beter wordt !!!

Ik = I
hoop = hope
ook = too
dat = that
het = it
met je knie = with your knee
en = and
tussen je oren = between your ears
snel = quick/fast
beter = better
wordt = becomes

To become better = to recover

Vrooooooooooommmmmm!

there went his IQ, down towards unemployment [lol]

seriously, how can he dare insult you (this is almost good enough for court) and cc that to the others! Leadership position qualification is lacking here, I'd say.
